Charging mode:
• AUTOMATIC (AUTO): current at charge and discharge is set automatically. Value
of current is adapted automatically to the condition of the accumulator.
• MANUAL (MAN): charge and discharge current are set indirectly by the selected
range of capacity.
Voltages (U):
Voltage of battery is measured when no current flows (therefore it can’t be controlled
during work). If no voltage is shown voltage was not measured until that time.
Charge condition:
To see at first sight approximate charge condition of a battery a symbol is displayed.
This symbol is only to recognize progress of charging or discharging within a short
time. At charge this symbol is filled from the buttom to the top and at discharge it is
made empty from the top to the buttom. This is no sign how much time does it take
until end of program. If condition of accumulator was not measured a symbol with a
horizontal line is shown (at this instruction manual symbol is represented by the let-
ter „S“).
Current of charge/discharge:
At charge and discharge the running current I is displayed. Note that amperage is set
automatically at automatic mode. If the current has not been measured at begin or
after finishing program (READY/ERROR) no current flows and I= ——A will appear.
Time:
Complete time in hours and minits (hh:mm) of treating the accumulator is shown.
Therefore at program Check, Cycle and Alive you see the whole added time of char-
ging and discharging. Only time for Trickle won’t be added.
Charging time for accumulators up to 2000 mAh reaches from 90 minits up to 4
hours at automatic mode and will take about 90 minits at manual mode. For accu-
mulators with 6000 mAh charge will take up to 8 hours at automatic mode and up to
4 hours at manual mode. The real charging times can differ as the accumulator defi-
nes it by himself.

No memory effect is possible (as charge and discharge currents are pulsed). A high
internal resistance of the accumulator decreases and the current load capacity
increases.
The efficiency of the accumulator is increased (relation of necessary charging quan-
tity and capacity which can be taken out).
Only one function key is needed to choose settings and to show data of the accu-
mulators.
The calculated charging and discharging capacities of the connected accumulators
are stored. These data can be recalled at any time and are stored until the accumu-
lator is removed.
The charging unit has a memory backup. During power failure data of accumulators
and programs are stored up to 24 hours. If the charging unit regains power these
programs continue. To guarantee this feature the unit has to be switched on for 2
hours.
The liquid crystal display (alphanumerical LCD) is used to display
• all charging programs (charge, discharge, check, cycle, alive)
• all charging modes (AUTOMATIC / MANUAL)
• all actual voltages (U)
• all charge conditions of batteries (battery symbol)
• all actual currents of charge/discharge (I)
• all needed times in hours and minits (hh:mm)
• all actual/stored accumulator data in mAh (C / D)
Charging programs:
- CHARGE = charging only one time
- DISCHARGE = discharging only one time
- CHECK = discharge and charge
- CYCLE = charge- discharge- charge
- ALIVE = charge- discharge- charge- discharge- charge
The ALIVE program is to refresh new accumulators and those stored over a long
period of time.
Please be aware that accumulators which have been treated badly can take up only
30% of their capacity at the beginning. This bad efficiency can be recognized by a
high charging capacity (C) and a very small discharging capacity (D). Charge those
accumulators with the ALIVE program. After some cycles discharge capacity (D)
increases.
