Overview

This document is a care and instruction manual for the Cookworks Food Processor, Model No. FP9076-GS. It provides essential information for safe operation, assembly, usage, maintenance, and technical specifications of the appliance.

Function Description

The Cookworks Food Processor is designed for household and indoor use, offering a versatile range of food preparation tasks. Its primary function is to process various food items efficiently. The appliance comes with multiple blades and accessories to perform different tasks:

  • General Purpose Blade: This is the most versatile attachment, suitable for chopping meats, bread, and vegetables (cut into 2cm cubes), making pastry (using chilled fats cut into 2cm cubes), mixing cakes, and blending heavier liquids. It is important to note that this blade is not suitable for crushing or grinding coffee beans or converting granulated sugar to icing sugar.
  • Slicing Blade: Used for slicing firm vegetables and hard cheese.
  • Shredding Blade: Used for shredding firm vegetables and hard cheese.
  • Julienne Blade: Used for creating julienne cuts of vegetables.

The food processor operates with a speed switch offering two settings (1 for slower, 2 for faster) and a pulse function ('P') for short intervals at full speed. A safety feature ensures the processor will not operate unless both the lid and the processor bowl are correctly fitted and locked into position.

Usage Features

The food processor is designed for ease of use with specific instructions for assembly and operation:

  • Assembly:

    1. Clean all parts thoroughly before first use.
    2. Place the motor housing on a stable, flat surface.
    3. Position the processor bowl onto the motor housing, aligning the arrow on the bowl's base with the 'unlocked' padlock symbol on the motor housing. Twist the bowl clockwise to align the arrow with the 'locked' padlock symbol. The processor will not work if the bowl is not correctly locked.
    4. Fit the blade support onto the drive shaft in the center of the bowl.
    5. Carefully fit the desired blade:
      • For the general purpose blade, fit it over the blade support so it rests close to the bottom of the bowl.
      • For slicing, shredding, or julienne blades, first fit the blade into the blade holder. Align the blade with the cutting edge uppermost, tilt it, and hook the clip under the edge of the holder. Press downwards on the other edge to fully engage the blade. Then, fit the blade holder onto the blade support. The blade holder will sit near the top of the bowl.
    6. Align the lugs on the rim of the bowl with the grooves on the underside of the lid and fit the lid onto the bowl. Twist the lid clockwise to lock into position. The protruding section of the lid should cover the bowl handle. The processor will not work if the lid is not correctly locked.
    7. If adding ingredients via the feed tube, use the pusher as necessary.
  • Basic Operation:

    1. Assemble the food processor as described.
    2. If using the general purpose blade, ingredients can be added before fitting the lid. For julienne, slicing, and shredding blades, add ingredients via the feed tube after starting the processor.
    3. Unwind the cable and plug in.
    4. Switch on at the mains and select the desired speed (1 or 2) using the speed switch. Speed 1 is for softer mixtures/ingredients, and speed 2 is for harder mixtures/ingredients.
    5. Use for a maximum of 90 seconds.
    6. To use the pulse function, turn and hold the speed switch to 'P' for short intervals. Release the switch when the desired mix is achieved.
    7. To stop or interrupt, turn the speed control switch to the off (0) position or switch off at the mains.
    8. Allow the blade/blade holder to stop spinning before checking consistency or removing the bowl.
    9. If further mixing is required, wait 2 minutes before restarting. If the unit is used for 3 consecutive cycles, wait 30 minutes before the next use.
  • Using Chipping, Slicing, or Shredding Blades:

    1. Fit the desired blade into the blade holder and assemble the processor with the blade holder on the blade support. Do not add ingredients into the bowl yet.
    2. Cut ingredients to fit the feed tube, removing any peel and stones. Ensure julienne vegetables are not too short.
    3. Switch the processor on and feed ingredients down the feed tube onto the cutting blade, using the pusher to maintain contact and even pressure.
    4. Use for a maximum of 90 seconds. Follow the same rest periods as for general purpose blade if further processing is needed.
    5. The usual process speed for these accessories is speed 2.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and proper handling are crucial for maintaining the food processor:

  • Cleaning:

    1. Switch off and unplug the appliance after each use.
    2. Remove the lid and separate the processor bowl from the motor housing.
    3. If fitted, lift off the blade holder from the support using the finger holes.
    4. To remove shredding, slicing, and julienne blades from the holder, turn the holder over and press in the direction shown on the clip from the reverse side to release the blade.
    5. Lift out the blade support and remove the general purpose blade (if fitted).
    6. Wash all loose parts (blades, blade holder, blade support, bowl, lid, pusher) in hot water with a little washing-up liquid. Rinse and wipe dry.
    7. Wipe the outside of the motor housing with a damp cloth; do not use detergent or abrasives.
    8. Important Safety Note: Never immerse the motor housing, cable, or plug in water. Do not clean any part of this appliance in a dishwasher.
    9. Take extreme care when handling blades as they are sharp and can cause personal injury.
  • Storage: Allow the motor housing to cool fully before storing. Do not cover the food processor during storage if the motor housing is still warm.
