Pendant Transmitter
4601-50/60 PENDANT TRANSMITTER
Description
The 4601-50/60 are narrow-band, FM radio transmitters compatible with any
Scantronic 4600 radio receivers, and are designed to be used as an alarm trigger in
dispersed alarm units, nursecall systems and as a panic button in security and call
systems. The 4601-60 can be used as a remote setting device with the 4600 radio
intruder alarm panel.
Hardware
The units are supplied in an attractive, ABS, re-retardant, plastic housing with a
exible, tactile, trigger button moulded in neoprene rubber. The non-allergenic, silicone
rubber aerial cord of the 4601-50 version enables the user to wear the unit around his
or her neck. The unit has a degree of splash resistance but it is not designed to be
immersed in water.
Operation
The 4601-50/60 is triggered by depressing the orange button on the front of the unit.
Transmission is conrmed by a top-facing, red, LED
, which stays lit for around 4
seconds.
Performance
The 4601-50/60 pendant transmitter is designed to operate over short distances, the
actual range depends on the receiver aerial and the nature of the receiving path. As a
reference, the 4601-50 pendant transmitter / 4618 receiver + half-wave dipole aerial
combination gives a range in excess of 300 metres over at, open ground: the
following multipliers should assist range estimates.

The 4601-60 has a reduced, at, open-ground range of 150 metres with the same
aerial combination.
Battery Life
The 4601-50/60 transmitters are powered by lithium-manganese-dioxide batteries,
which are
designed to give at least 20,000 operating cycles, or 3 years life if used twice
per day.
The battery is permanently soldered to the transmitter and is not designed to be user-
changeable. If the battery needs changing, return the whole unit, including the case, to
your distributor or direct to Scantronic Service Department.
