Do you have a question about the Cooper Surgical ALLY II UPS and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The ALLY II UPS™ (Uterine Positioning System) is a non-patient contacting, electromechanical device designed to assist surgical staff in mounting, positioning, and holding uterine manipulators during gynecological laparoscopic surgical procedures. It consists of a single, multi-segmented, articulated arm that attaches to a standard operating room bed rail, and a separate, sterile, disposable adapter used to secure a sterile uterine manipulator to the arm. The system enables bed-side assistants to readily mount, hold, and position the manipulator, providing access and the ability to maneuver and maintain the manipulator in a desired position.

Function Description:

The ALLY II UPS™ is intended to secure uterine manipulator devices for uterine positioning. Its segmented arm design allows lateral/medial movement from a single point, enabling attachment to one side of the operating room table. A foot pedal release facilitates positioning, allowing the arm to be locked in the desired position by releasing the pedal. The device connects to any operating table and provides static control, consistent cephalad pressure, and stability, holding the uterus in the desired position for visualization and access.

Usage Features:

The ALLY II UPS™ is designed for use by trained operating room personnel in an operating room environment. It is only intended for use with CooperSurgical's family of uterine manipulators. The system includes a main unit assembly, an ALLY II UPS™ rail clamp, and an adapter drape. The main unit houses the controls, and the power switch (green light) indicates system readiness. The foot pedal controls the locking and unlocking of the arm, allowing for maneuvering the manipulator. Depressing the foot pedal releases the arm to allow movement, while releasing it locks the arm and holds the manipulator in the desired position. The flexible arm provides desired range-of-motion for positioning the manipulator, holds the manipulator in the desired position, and has a marking to accommodate engagement with the adapter. The arm rotates out of the way to provide access between the patient's legs as needed. The ALLY II UPS™ Blue Handle is held to install or remove the ALLY II UPS™ from the rail. The power cord supplies power to both the main unit and the foot pedal. A grounding post is included for access to ground connection.

The ALLY II UPS™ rail clamp is used to mount the ALLY II UPS™ to the patient's right side rail of a standard operating room table, secured by tightening a knob. The adapter drape (sold separately) connects the flexible arm to CooperSurgical manipulators. This component is a single-use disposable and comes with a drape attached. One end of the adapter attaches to the flexible arm via pinch clips, and the other end securely attaches to the manipulator using a latching mechanism. The ALLY II UPS™ arm must be completely draped to ensure the sterile field is not compromised during the surgical procedure.

Maintenance Features:

The ALLY II UPS™ system, including the main unit, fixed arm, handle, and foot pedal, should be cleaned after each use. Only Isopropyl Alcohol 70 percent (70% or higher) or CaviWipes™ (or equivalent) not exceeding 0.28% ammonium chloride should be used. All surfaces should be wiped free of debris. The flexible arm should not be sprayed and must be locked in an upright orientation during cleaning. Ensure the flexible arm is thoroughly dry before powering on. Bleach products should not be used on the flexible arm or rail clamp as they can cause damage.

The rail clamp should be cleaned and disinfected after each use using a quaternary ammonium disinfecting/cleaning solution, following the product's directions for low-level disinfection. Caution should be exercised around the knob to prevent fluid migration. The device should be wiped with a clean, dry cloth and thoroughly dry before reinstalling.

Care should be taken during storage and transportation to avoid drops, falls, mechanical stress, and mechanical shock. The foot pedal cover can be used to lift, carry, or reposition the foot pedal. The device should be stored in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated environment, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, or high humidity. It should not be stored in its shipping box.

Annual service by authorized CooperSurgical personnel is required to ensure proper device operation. CooperSurgical warrants the ALLY II UPS™ to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. If the device fails to perform within this period, CooperSurgical will repair or replace it free of charge.
