Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive user manual for the CORBY MINIBAR, covering various models including Eton-E, 20L Glass Door, 35L Glass Door, and 40L Glass Door minibars, as well as their Solid Door counterparts. The manual emphasizes safety, installation, usage, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.

Function Description:

The CORBY MINIBAR is a compact refrigeration appliance designed for household and similar applications. This includes staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments, as well as for guests in hotels, motels, and other residential settings. Its primary function is to cool and store beverages and non-perishable food items. The cooling system operates by removing heat from the minibar chamber, capable of reducing the internal temperature by up to 22°C relative to the ambient room temperature. The cooler the room, the lower the temperature the minibar can achieve.

The appliance is supplied with a BS1363 3-pin plug fitted with a 13 Amp fuse. Fuse replacement requires a 13 Amp fuse approved to BS1362. The appliance must be earthed, with specific wiring instructions provided for green/yellow (Earth), blue (Neutral), and brown (Live) wires.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The minibar should be positioned in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or heat sources. A minimum clearance of 50mm around the sides, rear, and top of the minibar from any surrounding surfaces is crucial for proper ventilation. For Eton-E models, a specific fixing bracket is provided for secure installation, positioned at least 75mm from the wall/surface and 215mm from the front of the minibar door. For 20L, 35L, and 40L models, securing is done by screwing through holes in the feet.
  • Initial Use: After positioning, plug the power cable into the mains (ensure the socket is switched off first), then turn on the socket. Close the door and allow the minibar to operate continuously for 2 hours before storing any items.
  • Adjustable Dial: An adjustable dial located at the rear of the minibar controls the cooling system. Turning the dial to 'L' (Lower Temperature) makes the system work constantly to achieve its lowest temperature. Turning it to 'H' (Higher Temperature) reduces the system's operation for a higher internal temperature.
  • Locking Mechanism: The minibar can be locked using the provided keys. Rotate the key anticlockwise to lock and clockwise to unlock.
  • Door Reversal: The manual provides detailed instructions for changing the door hinge side for both solid and glass door models. This involves unplugging the appliance, emptying its contents, carefully laying it on its back, removing hinges and caps, repositioning hinges to the desired side, and securing the door. It is essential to ensure both hinge brackets are tight and secure after reversal.
  • Energy Saving: To maximize energy efficiency, users are advised to always keep the door shut, regularly check for adequate air circulation around the appliance, ensure items are cooled to room temperature before placing them inside, and keep the minibar away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and high-temperature areas.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Before cleaning, remove all contents, including shelves. Use warm soapy water to wipe and rinse down surfaces, paying extra attention to the interior. A baking soda solution (3 tablespoons per 1 litre of water) can be used for interior cleaning. Wipe away excess water and allow to dry before replacing shelves and contents.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always disconnect the minibar from the electrical supply before cleaning or maintenance.
    • Never use harsh, abrasive, or heavy-duty cleaners/solvents on any surface of the appliance.
    • Never use aerosols or steam cleaners on or around the minibar.
    • Do not route the mains supply cord under carpets or allow it to touch hot surfaces.
    • Do not sit, stand, or put weight on the product.
    • Do not store perishable food items (meats, dairy products, etc.) or explosive substances (like aerosol cans with flammable propellant) inside the appliance.
    • Do not touch cooled surfaces with wet hands while the appliance is operating, as skin can stick to cold surfaces.
    • Do not place any electrical items inside the appliance.
    • Keep the appliance away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and high temperatures.
  • Refrigerant (R600a): The appliance contains a small quantity of R600a refrigerant, which is environmentally friendly but requires careful handling during transport and installation to prevent damage to the cooling system. Leaking refrigerant can damage eyes or ignite. In case of leakage, ensure the room is well-ventilated, and keep away from open flames or sparks. For every 8g of coolant, at least 1 cubic meter of room space is required.
  • Disposal: The minibar contains cyclopentane as an insulation blowing gas, requiring special disposal procedures. Electrical waste products (WEEE) should not be disposed of with household waste but recycled at designated facilities. Users should consult their local authority or retailer for recycling advice. Before disposing of an old appliance, remove the door and leave shelves in place to prevent child entrapment.

The manual emphasizes that these instructions are for user safety and should be read thoroughly before use and retained for future reference. Failure to follow them could result in injury or property damage. The instructions are also available on the manufacturer's website. The product comes with a minimum 12-month guarantee, and users are advised to retain their purchase receipt as proof of purchase and guarantee validation.
