Overview

This document is a user manual for the Cosatto Tote i-Size car seat, an enhanced universal belted child restraint system approved under UN Regulation No. 129/03. It is designed for children with a height between 40 and 87cm and a maximum weight of 13 kg. The manual provides instructions in English, French, German, and Italian.

Function Description:

The Cosatto Tote i-Size is a rearward-facing i-Size car seat designed to provide safety and comfort for infants. It can be installed using a three-point lap and diagonal vehicle belt in the front or rear passenger seats of a car. The car seat features a headrest, hood, harness, crotch pad, and seat liner, all designed to secure the child safely. It also offers a recline function for the child's comfort.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Approval: UN Regulation No. 129/03 (R129/03)
  • Child Height Range: 40 - 87cm
  • Maximum Child Weight: 13 kg
  • Installation: Rearward facing only, using a three-point lap and diagonal vehicle belt.
  • Compatibility: Universal belted enhanced child restraint system. When used with the "Tote i-Size" base (sold separately), it becomes an i-Size enhanced child restraint system. Users should consult the Cosatto fit checker app (http://cosat.to/fitchecker) or the vehicle fitting list on the website (http://cosat.to/toteisizevl) for specific vehicle compatibility.
  • Airbag Warning: Never use this enhanced child restraint system in seating positions where an active frontal airbag is installed. If an airbag is present, it must be de-activated.

Usage Features:

Harness Adjustment:

  • Loosening: Refer to step 1 in the instructions.
  • Tightening: Refer to step 2 in the instructions.
  • Opening: The harness buckle can be opened by pressing the red button (refer to step 3).
  • Closing: The harness buckles click into place (refer to step 4).

Headrest Adjustment:

  • Adjusting: Loosen the harness (step 1), then pull back the adjustor (a) and adjust the headrest position (b) (refer to step 5).

Seat Liner:

  • Usage: For children between 40 and 60cm, the child car seat must be used with the seat liner (a). After the child's height exceeds 60cm, the seat liner should be removed (refer to step 6).

Handle Positions:

  • The handle has four positions:
    1. In vehicle position
    2. Carry position
    3. Stow/Reclined Cradle position
    4. Steady position
  • Adjust the handle by pressing the handle adjustment button (P8) and rotating it (refer to step 7).

Hood:

  • Removing the hood fabric: Release the elastic loops from both sides of the hood (a), release the rear section of the hood fabric from the seat (b), and release the hood fabric insert from the mounting points (a, b). Refitting is a reversal of this procedure (refer to steps 8, 9, 10).
  • Removing hood fabric insert: Refitting is a reversal of this procedure (refer to step 11).

Securing Your Child in the Car Seat:

  • Opening the harness: (refer to step 3).
  • Raising the headrest: (refer to step 5).
  • Placing the child: Place your child in the car seat.
  • Closing the harness: (refer to step 4).
  • Adjusting the harness: (refer to step 5).
  • Tightening the harness: Ensure the harness is sufficiently tight and not twisted. Check that the straps are not twisted while the child is seated (refer to step 13, 14, 15).

Fitting the Child Car Seat to Your Vehicle:

  • Adjust the handle: Adjust the handle to the carry position (a) (refer to step 7).
  • Position the child car seat: Position the child car seat on the vehicle seat, pass the vehicle waist belt through the side vehicle belt guides (b) and fasten the vehicle belt buckle (c).
  • Route the diagonal belt: Route the diagonal belt under the handle hinge (d) then through the rear vehicle seat belt guide (e).
  • Tension the vehicle diagonal belt: Tension the vehicle diagonal belt (f).
  • Adjust the handle: Adjust the handle to the in vehicle position (g) (refer to step 16).
  • Important Note: The position of the vehicle belt buckle can affect the stability of the child car seat. In an accident, this could stop the child car seat from protecting your child. Always ensure the buckle lies in the correct position. If in doubt, consult the car seat manufacturer or retailer.

Removing Softgoods:

  • Hood fabric: Remove the hood fabric (a) (refer to steps 9-10).
  • Harness: Open the harness (b) (refer to step 3).
  • Seat liner: Remove the seat liner (c) (if applicable), chest pad (d) & crotch pad (e) (refer to step 17).
  • Headrest cover: Remove the headrest cover (a, b) (refer to step 18).
  • Seat cover: Remove the seat cover (a - e) (refer to step 19).
  • Refitting is a reversal of this procedure.

Reclined Cradle Mode:

  • Warnings: Never leave children unsupervised. Do not use as a reclined cradle once the child can sit unaided. Not intended for prolonged periods of sleeping. Dangerous to use on an elevated surface (e.g., a table). Always use the restraint system.
  • Usage: The reclined cradle does not replace a cot or bed. If your child needs to sleep, they should be placed in a suitable cot or bed. Do not use if components are broken or missing. Only use accessories or replacement parts approved by Cosatto.

Maintenance Features:

  • Care & Maintenance: Your child restraint system is designed to meet safety standards and with correct use and maintenance will give many years of trouble-free performance.
  • Storage: Store your child restraint system in a dry, safe place.
  • Cleaning: Storing a damp child restraint system will encourage mildew. To form, so after exposure to damp conditions, dry off with a soft cloth and allow to dry thoroughly before storing.
  • Fading: Avoid leaving the child restraint system in sunlight for prolonged periods as this may cause fabrics to fade.
  • Inspection: Inspect the child restraint system regularly for signs of damage. Stop using the product if damage is found.
  • DO NOT take apart, or attempt to take apart the child restraint system when cleaning. It is unnecessary and dangerous to do so.
  • Metal and Plastic Parts: Metal and plastic parts may be sponged clean with warm water and a mild detergent.
  • Fabric Care: Refer to the wash care label on soft goods for cleaning instructions.
  • Cleaning Agents: Never clean with abrasive, ammonia-based, bleach-based or spirit type cleaners.
