This document is a user manual for the Costway Gun Safe, model HW67542. It provides essential information for the safe's operation, installation, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Costway Gun Safe (HW67542) is designed to securely store firearms and other valuable items. It features a robust construction intended to deter unauthorized access. The safe can be opened using either an emergency key or a user-defined security code. For enhanced security, the safe must be physically mounted to a floor and/or wall.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: HW67542
  • Locking Mechanism: Electronic keypad with user-defined security code (3-8 digits) and emergency key override.
  • Power Source: 4 AA batteries for the electronic keypad.
  • Lockout Feature:
    • 3 incorrect code entries result in a 20-second lockout.
    • An additional 3 incorrect code entries (total of 6) result in a 5-minute lockout.
  • Mounting: Designed for secure mounting to the floor and/or wall using expansion bolts (or clamping screws).
    • Recommended drill hole diameter for bolts: 12mm.
    • Recommended drill hole depth for bolts: >54mm (2.13 inches).
  • Sound Control: Beep sound can be turned OFF by inputting "00A" and ON by inputting "66A".

Usage Features:

  • Opening the Safe with Emergency Key:
    1. Remove the emergency lock cover.
    2. Insert the key into the keyhole and turn it counter-clockwise until it stops to unlock the safe.
    3. Rotate the knob clockwise.
    4. Turn the metal handle clockwise to open the door.
  • Battery Installation:
    1. Remove the Battery Compartment (A) cover.
    2. Insert 4 AA batteries.
    3. Restore the battery cover.
    • Note: Included batteries are for testing purposes only; change them ASAP. A red light with a green light indicates that batteries should be changed.
  • Entering/Setting Your Security Code:
    1. Open the safe (initially using the preset factory code 1-5-9 or emergency key).
    2. Locate the small reset button (B) on the inside of the door near the hinge.
    3. Press and release the reset button; a beep will sound, and the yellow light on the faceplate will activate.
    4. While the yellow light is on, enter your new personal security code (3-8 digits long).
    5. Confirm the new code by pressing the "B" or "A" symbol on the faceplate.
    6. Before closing the door, test the new code to ensure the lock releases the handle.
    7. If the code fails, repeat steps 1 and 2.
    8. Once successful, record your combination in a secure place, away from children and not inside the safe.
    9. To open the safe in the future, enter the security code followed by the "B" or "A" symbol.
  • Mounting Instructions:
    1. Choose an isolated, dry, and secure area for optimal safety and security.
    2. Place the safe in the desired location.
    3. Lift the bottom carpeting to expose the two marked holes on the floor or wall.
    4. Drill pilot holes for expansion bolts (or clamping screws) according to the hardware type (12mm diameter, >54mm depth for included bolts).
    5. Turn the expansion bolts counter-clockwise to separate them.
    6. Use the expansion bolts (or clamping screws) to secure the safe to the wall and/or floor.
    7. Ensure the safe is mounted as required and tighten all screws.
    • Important Note: Failure to mount the safe to the floor or wall will compromise its safety and security and may cause it to tip over.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Care:
    • Secure the safe in a proper area to prevent falling and damage.
    • DO NOT disassemble the product. For repairs, contact customer service.
    • Clean with a damp cloth.
    • DO NOT use chemicals or cleaning agents to clean the safe.
  • Key and Code Management:
    • Keep emergency keys, security code, and safe serial number in a secure place away from children and not inside the safe.
    • The safe's serial number is located on the front bottom corner of the safe and is important for ordering replacement keys.
    • Change batteries promptly when indicated by the red and green lights.
