Overview

This document describes a pizza oven, model NP10813, designed for outdoor use. It functions as a pizza oven and can be fired with wood, coal, briquettes, or pellets, and also has an option for a gas burner assembly.

Function Description:

The pizza oven is designed for baking pizzas outdoors. It features a main body, a firebox, a feeder, a chimney, a removable door, and a pizza stone. The oven can reach high temperatures, indicated by a built-in thermometer, to cook pizzas quickly. It is equipped with a double stainless steel cover with wool filling to maintain heat for extended periods. The design allows for observation of the baking process through a damper without opening the door, thus preventing heat loss. For convenience, it includes a pizza shovel.

  • Weight: 13.9 kg / 31 lbs
  • Included Components: Thermometer for °C and °F, pizza stone (30 x 30 cm / 12 x 12 inches), firebox, feeder, chimney, removable door, pizza shovel.
  • Fuel Capacity (Pellets): Maximum of 400 grams in the fuel box.
  • Gas Burner: Requires one AA battery (not included) for operation.
  • Temperature: Designed to reach around 400°C / 752°F for optimal pizza baking.

Usage Features:

Safety Information:

  • Outdoor Use Only: This device is strictly for outdoor use. Never operate it in closed or habitable rooms, tents, caravans, mobile homes, or boats due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Hot Surfaces: Accessible parts become very hot during operation. Keep children and pets away.
  • Fuel: Only use wood, coal, briquettes, or pellets for firing. Do not use spirit or petrol for lighting or re-lighting; only EN1860-3 compliant firelighters should be used. For the gas burner, an approved propane cylinder (not supplied) with an approved valve connection and an OPD (overfill protection device) is required.
  • Placement: Place the oven on an even, fire-proof surface.
  • Supervision: Never leave the pizza oven unsupervised while in use.
  • Flammable Materials: Keep flammable fabrics, vapours, and objects away from the oven.
  • Cooling: Allow the pizza oven to cool down for at least 120 minutes after use before covering and storing. Even without visible flames, significant residual heat can remain.
  • Gloves: Always wear fireproof gloves when working with the firebox and filling shaft to prevent burns.
  • Assembly: Ensure all screws are firmly tightened after proper installation.
  • Modifications: Do not modify the appliance.
  • Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Symptoms: Headache, dizziness, feebleness, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, and confusion. Seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms occur. Alcohol and drug consumption, pregnancy, small children, the elderly, smokers, and individuals with cardiovascular diseases increase the risk.

Assembly:

  1. Screw the wooden handle and air flap to the oven door.
  2. Screw both remaining wooden handles onto the feeder and firebox.
  3. Ensure the isolation plate is assembled inside the body. If using the gas burner, this plate needs to be removed and reassembled when switching back to charcoal/pellets.
  4. Screw the feeder to the rear of the oven casing.
  5. Put the firebox into the bottom hole of the back face.
  6. Screw the rain shelter with 3 screws onto the chimney. Insert the chimney over the top opening in the body. The chimney can be shaken slightly left and right for easier fitting and removal.

Gas Burner Assembly:

  1. Remove the firebox.
  2. Remove the isolation plate from the bottom of the oven (store safely for future use with charcoal/pellets).
  3. Install the burner with the 2 pre-assembled screws at the back of the oven. Remember to remove the gas burner first when switching back to charcoal/pellets.
  4. Connect the burner with the regulator and cylinder. Ensure the gas regulator hose is kink-free. Insert the regulator nipple onto the fuel valve and hand-tighten counter-clockwise. Do not use tools. Perform a leak test on all joints before using.

Lighting Instructions (Gas Burner):

  1. Ensure all burner controls are in the "OFF" position.
  2. Insert one AA battery into the battery cap (2) and screw the cap on clockwise.
  3. Connect the propane cylinder and slowly turn on the gas supply valve.
  4. Check all gas connections for leaks.
  5. Do not lean over the oven when lighting.
  6. Turn the burner control knob to "ON" and press to ignite. Then turn the knob to "Low" or "HI" as desired.

Before First Use:

  1. Dampen a sponge with lukewarm water, wring it out, and wipe the pizza stone clean to remove production residues.
  2. Clean the inside of the oven with water and a mild detergent.
  3. Burn-in the oven for at least 30 minutes with glowing fuel before making the first pizza.

Using the Pizza Oven (Wood/Coal/Briquettes/Pellets Firing):

  1. Remove the firebox and fill it with appropriate fuel (logs, coal, briquettes, or pellets). Place a grill lighter in the middle (no liquid starters like spirit or petrol), cover with sticks or thin firing woods, and ignite.
  2. Push the firebox into the pizza oven and wait for the fuel to burn evenly.
  3. Add more fuel via the filling shaft and wait until it has completely burnt through, is covered with a layer of ash, and no smoke escapes from the chimney.
  4. When the oven thermometer shows around 400°C/752°F, open the door and push the pizza to the center of the stone. Close the door.
  5. Rotate the pizza by 180° after 45 seconds to ensure even baking.
  6. Observe the baking process through the damper. Avoid opening the door to prevent heat loss.
  7. Pizzas are typically ready in 1 to 5 minutes, depending on dough thickness.
  • Tip: For faster results, burn coal or briquettes in a separate igniting place and fill pure ember into the firebox. A blowpipe can also be used to light combustibles.

Refilling Combustibles:

  • Always wear fireproof gloves when filling and emptying the firebox.
  • If the temperature drops, add a new charge of combustibles (wood, coal, briquettes, or pellets) into the firebox via the filling chute. Wait until the combustibles have burnt through and no more smoke rises before baking the next pizza.

Switching Off the Pizza Oven:

  1. Close the door and let the oven burn out, which can take up to 4 hours.
  2. For quicker cooling, wear fireproof gloves, remove the firebox, and put its contents into a bucket filled with water. Open the pizza oven door and allow it to cool completely for about 30 minutes.

Maintenance Features:

Cleaning and Care:

  • Oven: Allow the oven to cool completely. Empty the firebox after every use and sweep out ashes with a brush. The interior and exterior can be cleaned with water and a mild detergent, except for the gas burner, which should be cleaned lightly with a dry cloth.
  • Chimney: If used regularly, the chimney should be removed and washed every 4 weeks to rinse off soot.
  • Pizza Stone: Remove the pizza stone and carefully scrape off residues with a hob scraper or sharp knife. Stains from burnt-in ingredients are normal and do not affect functionality. Do not use detergent when washing the stone with water. After washing, let it air-dry in an oven at 80°C/176°F for at least 3 hours, or in a warm spot for 24 hours.

Storing Pizza Oven:

  • The pizza oven has 4 foldable stainless steel feet for easier storage and transport.
  • For long-term storage or to save space, the chimney can be removed.
  • Always store the pizza oven in a dry environment after it has completely cooled down to prevent rusting and weathering. Cover it with a weather-resistant tarpaulin or store it in a cellar or garden house.

Troubleshooting:

  • Fire blows out frequently: Ensure not to add too many combustibles at once, as this can smother the fire.
  • Oven won't get hot: Strong wind can impair heating performance; place the oven in a wind-protected location. Check if the fire is burning properly. Replace the thermometer if broken.
  • Oven turns black on one side: Rotate the pizza by 180° after 45 seconds. The side near the firebox receives more radiant heat; turning the pizza ensures even baking.
