This document provides assembly, usage, and maintenance instructions for a gas fireplace, model TGS46GE. It is designed for outdoor use only in a well-ventilated space and should not be used in a building, garage, or any other enclosed area.

Function Description:

The device is an outdoor gas fireplace that uses an LP-gas supply cylinder to provide heat and ambiance. It features a burner system that produces a flame, and lava rocks are placed over the steel cover to enhance the visual effect. The appliance is designed to be portable, with wheels on the tank support assembly for easy movement. It includes a control knob for lighting and extinguishing the flame, allowing users to adjust the flame height.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Maximum Inlet Pressure: 250 psig
  • Minimum Inlet Pressure: 25 psig
  • Manifold Pressure: 11 inches W.C.
  • Gas Rating: 37,000 BTU/hr
  • LP-Gas Supply Cylinder: Must be constructed and marked in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Specifications for LP-Gas Cylinders or the Standard for Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for Transportation of Dangerous Goods (CAN/CSA-B339). It must be provided with a listed overfilling prevention device and a cylinder connection device compatible with the appliance. The cylinder supply system must be arranged for vapor withdrawal, and the cylinder used must include a collar to protect the cylinder valve. The recommended cylinder size is 12 inches in diameter and 18 inches high, with a capacity of 20 lbs of propane.
  • Clearance: Minimum clearance from the sides and rear of the unit to adjacent combustible construction is 2 feet from sides and 2 feet from rear.
  • Hose Assembly: The pressure regulator and hose assembly supplied with this appliance must be used. Replacement parts must be the ones specified in this manual.
  • Certifications: Tested and complies with ANSIZ21.97 and CSA 2.41-2014. Installation must conform to local codes or, in their absence, to the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSIZ223.1, and CAN/CGA-B149.2.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The assembly process involves fastening various frame components, attaching the tank support assembly, inserting the front door, and connecting the upper and lower connectors. The glass table top is then placed, followed by the fuel supply hose connection to the tank and igniter valve. Finally, the lava rocks are placed over the steel cover.
  • Lighting Instructions:
    1. Ensure the control knob is in the "off" position.
    2. Open the gas valve on the LP tank by slowly turning the handle counter-clockwise until fully open.
    3. Push in and rotate the control knob counter-clockwise to the "PILOT" position.
    4. With the pilot lit, continue depressing the control knob for at least 20 seconds to heat the thermocouple.
    5. If the pilot does not ignite in 5 seconds, turn the control knob to the "off" position and wait 5 minutes to clear any gas before retrying.
    6. For first lighting or after a new tank is installed, it may be necessary to repeat step 2 multiple times to bleed air out of the line.
    7. Slowly release the knob, ensuring the pilot remains lit. Wait 5 seconds, then continue to slowly rotate counter-clockwise to adjust the flames to the desired height.
  • Shutting Down Instructions:
    1. Rotate the control knob clockwise until it stops.
    2. To shut off the gas supply to the unit, rotate the handle at the top of the LP tank clockwise until tight.
  • Tank Removal:
    1. Close the valve tightly on the tank.
    2. Loosen the fuel supply hose from the igniter valve.
    3. Rotate the fuel supply hose counterclockwise to remove it from the tank.
    4. Remove the tank from the tank support assembly and through the tank fastener.
