Do you have a question about the Coway CHP-590N and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Coway Water Filtration Device, model CHP-590N, is a comprehensive water purifier designed to provide clean and safe drinking water. It offers both hot and cold water options, along with room temperature water, making it a versatile appliance for various household needs. The device emphasizes user safety, ease of use, and effective water filtration.

Function Description

The CHP-590N operates through a 5-step water filtering system, ensuring thorough purification. This process includes:

  1. NEO-SENSE FILTER (Steps 1, 2): Removes particles such as sand or rust from the source water and protects other filters. It also removes pollutants like chlorine.
  2. NANO-TRAP FILTER (Step 3): Targets and removes particulates in drinking water, including waterborne microorganisms, bacteria, and viruses.
  3. PLUS INNO-SENSE FILTER (D) (Step 4): Improves water taste by removing odorous materials and further eliminates volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the source water.
  4. ANTIBACTERIAL FILTER (option) (Step 5): Prevents the growth of microorganisms in the water. This filter contains silver, which inhibits the propagation of microorganisms and maintains the integrity of the filter.

The device is designed for continuous water supply, with a feed-NOS valve regulating the water flow through the filtration system. Filtered water is then stored in separate tanks for hot, cold, and room temperature water, ready for dispensing.

Usage Features

The CHP-590N incorporates several features for convenient and safe operation:

  • Display for Status at a Glance: Various indicators on the control panel show the product's current status, including hot and cold water temperature indicators, and hot and cold water mode indicators.
  • Hot Water Safety Tap: A safety equipment is installed on the hot water tap to prevent burns from hot water (90 °C or more). This typically involves a safety button that must be pressed simultaneously with the Cup-Touch Lever to dispense hot water.
  • Front Draining System: Users can conveniently drain hot water from the front of the product by opening the front drain cover, eliminating the need to move the product.
  • Dust Prevention: The purifier uses a Plus Inno-Sense filter (D) to minimize the amount of dust particles entering the interior tank.
  • Control Panel: Located on the front, it includes buttons for hot and cold water mode selection, and indicators for hot and cold water status.
  • Cup-Touch Lever: This lever is used to dispense water. Pushing it up dispenses cold water, and pressing it down dispenses hot or room temperature water.
  • Cold/Room Water Changeover Dial: Allows users to switch between cold and room temperature water.
  • Installation Precautions:
    • The device must be connected to a main water supply valve using the provided adaptor and tubing.
    • The power cord must match the voltage rating on the product's rating plate.
    • After installation, the saved water in the inner water tank should be drained and refilled.
    • Regular filter replacement is crucial for maintaining water quality.
    • The product should not be used for a long time without draining and refilling the water.
    • The water cooler is designed to be plugged into a receptacle with a ground fault circuit interrupting type.
    • Do not install the product on a sloped floor.
    • Do not press the product by constraint or impact.
    • Do not clean by spraying the water directly or using benzene and thinner.
    • Do not repair, disassemble, or modify the device.
    • The appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
    • The new hose-sets supplied with the appliance are to be used and old hose-sets should not be reused.
    • Cleaning and user maintenance should not be made by children without supervision.
    • The filtration device installation must comply with applicable state and local regulations.
    • The water tank cover must be completely closed after use.
    • Do not use hot water to come in contact with the human body.
    • Do not use filtered water for the water exchange of an aquarium or a fishbowl.
    • After moving the product or replacing the Plus Inno-sense filter, the black powder can be remained in the inner bottom of the water tank.
    • Do not use water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the CHP-590N.

  • Storage Tank Cleaning:
    1. Turn off the cold/hot water function buttons and unplug the power cord.
    2. Drain all water from inside the purifier using the outlet tubing. This includes water from the cold/room water tank and hot water tank via the front drainage outlet.
    3. Open the upper cover of the product by pushing it upward, then release the clips and remove the hose and the interior storage tank.
    4. Detach the antibacterial filter from the water tank cover and shake it in water, then reinstall.
    5. Wipe the interior water tank surfaces with a soft cloth.
    6. Rinse the interior water storage tank with clean water, then use the outlet tubing to drain completely. Run purified water through the product once and empty, then use.
    7. Close the upper cover and plug in the power cord. Turn on the water supply valve and check the water temperature and hot water taps. Press the Hot/Cold Water function selection button on the front of the product to restart it.
    • Caution: Close the storage tank cover completely. Insects or other foreign particles can enter. When cleaning the storage tank, do not use any chemicals or detergent, as they can be harmful. Keep the surroundings clean and clean the storage tank once every two months.
