This document is an instruction manual for the EST-913 FITZROY i-Size child restraint system, designed for children with a height range of 40-135cm. The product is marketed under the brand "COZY N SAFE" with the tagline "Without Compromise...".
Function Description:
The EST-913 FITZROY i-Size is an enhanced child restraint system designed to ensure the safety of children during car travel. It functions as both a rearward-facing and forward-facing seat, adapting to the child's growth. For rearward-facing installation, it is suitable for children with a height of 40-105cm. For forward-facing installation, it accommodates children with a height of 100-135cm. The system is approved according to UN Regulation No.129, indicating its compliance with modern safety standards for child restraint systems. The seat features a 5-point harness system for younger children and can be converted into a booster seat for older children by removing the harness and using the vehicle's 3-point safety belt.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Height Range: 40-135cm
- Approval: UN Regulation No.129 (i-Size booster seat and Universal Belted Enhanced Child Restraint System)
- Installation:
- Rearward-facing: 40-105cm (Do not use forward facing before the child's age exceeds 15 months).
- Forward-facing: 100-135cm (Do not use the device in seating positions where an active frontal airbag is installed).
- Harness System: 5-point harness for younger children.
- Booster Mode: Utilizes the vehicle's 3-point safety belt for older children.
- Recline Positions: The car seat has 3 forward-facing recline positions and 1 x 145° rear-facing recline position.
Usage Features:
- Installation Position: The manual specifies that the seat is suitable for use in seating positions fitted with a 3-point safety-belt, approved to UN/ECE Regulation No.16 or other equivalent standards. It explicitly states not to use the device in seating positions with an active frontal airbag.
- Headrest Adjustment: The headrest (01) can be adjusted up and down using the headrest adjuster (14) to suit the child's head height.
- Shoulder Strap Height Adjustment: The shoulder straps should always be threaded through the slots in the cover and seat shell so they are level with or slightly above the child's shoulders. The car seat's 5-point harness automatically adjusts along with the headrest.
- Harness Usage:
- Buckle: The two pieces of the buckle are assembled by inserting them into the slot until a "click" is heard. To release the harness, press the red button on the buckle (07).
- Harness Length Adjustment: To loosen the harness, locate the adjuster (09) on the front of the seat (marked press on the cover). Press down the adjuster and grip the two shoulder straps with your other hand. Pull the harness towards you while pressing the adjuster to loosen the harness. Always pull the harness from under the chest pads, never pull the chest pads themselves.
- Tightening Harness: To tighten the harness, pull the harness adjuster strap (11) away from the car seat. The harness should be adjusted as tightly as possible without causing discomfort to your child. Always check the harness is tight enough.
- Reclining the Seat: To recline the seat, pull the recline adjuster (10) and position the seat to the required recline angle.
- Removing the Harness: The harness can be removed by turning the child seat, sliding the harness off the harness connectors, and then removing the buckle tongues from the harness to hide the harness under the covers, converting the car seat to a high-backed booster.
- Removing Chest Pads: Loosen the cloth cover inside the seat and adjust the headrest to the highest position. Remove the chest strap from the hook and pull out the chest pad.
- Removing Crotch Pad and Buckle: Adjust the child seat to the most reclined position, turn it, and locate the buckle locking clip in its narrowest position. Feed it through the slot under the bottom of the child seat to remove the crotch pad and buckle.
- Rearward-facing Installation (40-105cm):
- Pull the recline adjuster (10) under the seat to the most reclined position.
- Place the child seat rearward-facing on the car seat, ensuring it is firmly pressed against the vehicle seat backrest.
- Feed the vehicle shoulder belt into the car seat belt guide hook (02) and belt clamp (03) on the same side. Continue to pass the vehicle belt through to the other side of the seat, ensuring the vehicle belt goes behind the harness. Ensure the lap belt goes through the belt guide (13) on the base of the seat.
- Insert the vehicle seat belt into the buckle until a "click" is heard. Remove any slack by releasing the belt clamp (03) and pulling on the vehicle belt. Release the belt clamp to lock the vehicle belt in position.
- Important: Ensure the buckle of the adult 3-point belt does not interfere with the main load-bearing contact point of the child restraint system.
- Place the child into the child seat. Check the height of the harness is correct and fasten the buckle (07). Ensure the harness is not twisted and the cover is not impeding the movement or fit of the harness.
- Ensure there are no twists in the vehicle belt. The 3-point vehicle belt passes through the backrest as shown in the picture.
- Forward-facing Installation (100-135cm):
- Place the child seat forward-facing on the vehicle seat, ensuring it is firmly pressed against the vehicle seat backrest.
- Place the child in the car seat and adjust the height of the headrest so that the bottom of the headrest is at the height of the child's shoulder and is locked in place.
- Pull out the vehicle belt, the shoulder strap must pass through the headrest belt guide, and then pass through the belt slot (13) together with the lap belt. Insert it into the buckle until a "click" is heard. Ensure the lap belt goes through the belt guide on both sides of the seat.
- Make sure the vehicle belt is not slack or twisted.
- Important: Ensure that the buckle of the adult 3-point belt does not interfere with the main load-bearing contact point of the child restraint system.
Maintenance Features:
- Daily Maintenance: Periodically check the child seat. It should be replaced after an accident. Keep the child seat in a dry and ventilated place to avoid damp and mold. If the child seat becomes dirty, clean the harness and plastic pieces by wiping them with a damp sponge and letting them dry naturally. If food or drink accidentally drops on the buckle, disassemble the buckle from the child seat and rinse it gently with warm water. Let it dry naturally.
- Washing Instructions: Never use any solvent, chemical detergent, or lubricant on any part of your child seat.
- Hand wash water temperature below 30°C.
- Do not bleach.
- Dry clean, any solvent except trichloroethane.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Do not iron.
- Removing and Assembling the Fabric Cover: First, remove the crotch pad and buckle from the child seat, then remove the harness, chest pads, and insert. Remove the fabric cover of the child seat. To install the fabric cover, follow the above instructions in reverse order.
