If your Craftsman Lawn Mower engine is difficult to start or isn't running well, consider these possibilities: The air filter might be clogged, so service the pre-cleaner or replace the air filter element. Also, check the choke position when starting and running the engine. Set the choke to CLOSED when cranking, and then set it to OPEN once the engine is running. A warm engine might not need the choke. Finally, the spark plug could be faulty, so clean and gap it or replace it.
