FirstTime Use
1. Removeoilfill dipstick(G).SeeFigure13.
2. Withthe moweronlevelground,emptyentirecontentsofoil bottle
providedintotheengineoilfill (H).
3. Replaceoil filldipstickandtighten.
SubsequentUses
Use4-strokemotoroilthatmeetsorexceedstherequirementsfor APIservice
categorySF,SG,SH,SJorhigher.AlwayschecktheAPIservicelabelontheoil
containerto besureit includesthelettersSF,SG,SH,SJorhigher.
Outdoortemperaturesdeterminetheproperoil vBcosityfor theengine.Usethe
chartto selectthebestviscosityfortheoutdoortemperaturerangeexpected.

Checkoillevelmorefrequently.
1. Checktheoil withtheenginestoppedandlevel.
2. Removetheoilfill dipstickandwipeit clean.
3. Insertandtightentheoilfill dipstick.Removeit tochecktheoillevel.See
Figure13.
4. If theoillevelisnearorbelowthelowerlimit markonthedipstick,remove
theoilfill dipstick,andfillwith therecommendedoiltotheupperlimit
mark(J).Donotoverfill.
5. Reinstalltheoilfill dipstick.

Fuelmustmeettheserequirements:
Clean,fresh,unleadedgasoline.
A minimumof87octane/87AKI(91RON).
Gasolinewith upto 10%ethanol(gasohol)isacceptable.
Refuelinawell-ventilatedareawith theenginestopped.If theenginehasbeen
running,allowit tocoolfirst. Neverrefueltheengineinsidea buildingwhere
gasolinefumesmayreachflamesorsparks.

Gasolineishighlyflammable andexplosive,andyoucanbeburnedor
seriouslyinjuredwhen refueling. Stopengineand keepheat,sparks,and
flame away.Refuelonlyoutdoors.Wipeupspills immediately.
Ifyourequipmentwill beusedonaninfrequentorintermittentbasis,please
refertothe OffSeasonStoragesectionfor additionalinformationregardingfuel
deterioration.
NOTE:Fuelcandamagepaintandsometypesofplastic.Becarefulnotto spillfuel
whenfilling yourfueltank.
Neverusestaleorcontaminatedgasolineoranoil/gasolinemixture.Avoidgetting
dirt orwaterinthefueltank.
1. Removethefueltankcap.
2. Fillthefueltankwith fuel.Toallowfor expansionofthefuel,donotfill
abovethebottomof thefueltankneck.Donotoverfill.Wipeupspilledfuel
beforestartingtheengine.
3. Installthefueltankcapandtightenituntil itclicks.
4. Movelawnmowerat least10feetawayfromthefuelcontainer/sourceand
sitebeforestartingtheengine.
Donot useunapprovedgasolines,suchasE85.Donot mix oil in gasoline
or modify engineto run onalternatefuels.Thiswill damagethe engine
componentsandvoidthe enginewarranty.
