Why don't the spiral augers turn on my Craftsman Snow Blower?
    • C
      Christopher ChungJul 31, 2025
If the spiral augers on your Craftsman Snow Blower don't turn, the upper or lower V belt might be too loose or broken, or the shear bolts may be sheared. To resolve this, increase the tension on the V belt, or replace the V belt if it's broken. Also, replace the shear bolts if they are sheared.

What to do if my Craftsman Snow Blower stalls the tractor engine?
    • S
      Sherry NelsonAug 7, 2025
If your Craftsman Snow Blower stalls the tractor engine, there might be an object jammed in the spiral auger, or you may be dealing with hard or heavy snow. If there's an object jammed, stop the engine, disengage the snow thrower clutch, and clear the auger. If it's due to hard or heavy snow, increase to full throttle and decrease your ground speed.

How to stop front wheels from sliding on my Craftsman 486.248392 Snow Blower?
    • G
      Gerald SmithAug 15, 2025
If the front wheels of your Craftsman Snow Blower slide instead of steering, it could be due to not enough traction at the front wheels. To fix this, increase the scraper plate clearance by lowering the skid shoes. You can also pull down on the lift handle to increase weight on the front wheels.

Why does my Craftsman 486.248392 Snow Blower ride up over the snow?
    • D
      Dustin TrujilloAug 22, 2025
If the Craftsman Snow Blower rides up over the snow, it could be because the tractor ground speed is too fast or the bottom snow is icy or hard packed. Reduce ground speed to address this. Also, lower the skid shoes so that the front of the skid shoe is lower than the rear if the bottom snow is icy or hard packed.
