Why won't my Craftsman Trimmer engine start?
- Jjames17Aug 7, 2025
There are several reasons why your Craftsman Trimmer engine might not be starting. It could be due to an empty fuel tank, which requires you to fill it with properly mixed fuel. Another reason might be that the primer bulb wasn't pressed enough, so try pressing it 10 times or until fuel is visible. If the engine is flooded, pull the starter rope while holding the throttle control. Old or improperly mixed fuel (over 30 days) can also be a culprit; in that case, drain the fuel tank and add fresh, properly mixed fuel. A fouled spark plug would need replacement. Lastly, if the outside temperature is below 40º F or above 90º F, try pulling the starter rope up to 10-15 times.
