Overview

This document provides instructions for the assembly, use, and maintenance of a Crolla travel cot, designed for children from 0 to 36 months. The manual covers various modes of operation, including bassinet and co-sleeping configurations, along with important safety warnings and care guidelines.

Function Description

The Crolla travel cot serves as a portable sleeping and play environment for infants and toddlers. It is designed to be versatile, offering a bassinet mode for younger infants and a lower cot position for older children who can sit up or pull themselves up. The travel cot can also be configured for co-sleeping, allowing it to be securely attached to a parent's bed. Its primary function is to provide a safe, comfortable, and convenient space for a child, both at home and while traveling. The device emphasizes safety, comfort, and an elegant design, as highlighted by its "Keep Your Child Safe For Every Journey" tagline.

Usage Features

The travel cot offers several key usage features:

  • Bassinet Mode: For newborns and younger infants, the bassinet mode provides a raised sleeping surface, making it easier for parents to access the child. The bassinet must be fully assembled and installed before use. This involves zipping up the bassinet, securing the zipper head with a buckle, covering it with a flap, ensuring the bassinet is completely zipped without crevices, inserting two tubes into pockets, assembling connecting tubes, and finally placing the mattress (soft side up) into the bassinet. The bassinet mode should be discontinued when the child can sit, kneel, roll over, or pull themselves up.

  • Standard Cot Mode: As the child grows, the bassinet is removed, and the mattress is placed in the lowest position of the cot. This is the safest position for children who are old enough to sit up. The cot is intended for children who are unable to climb out, are less than 86.4 cm (34 inches) tall, and weigh less than 15 kg.

  • Co-Sleeping Mode: The travel cot can be adapted for co-sleeping, allowing it to be fixed to the parent's bed. This feature involves sliding an adjustor inwards, adjusting a slide door down, positioning the travel cot next to the bed, and then lifting the slide door when parents are not around to secure the cot. This mode promotes closeness between parent and child while maintaining a separate, safe sleeping space for the infant.

  • Portability and Storage: The travel cot is designed for easy folding and storage. To fold, the mattress is removed, and the folding webbing is pulled upward. The rails are then unlocked by slightly lifting the center of the rails and squeezing the latch buttons. Once all four rails are released, the unit can be folded. The folded cot is then wrapped with the mattress, secured with hook and loop fasteners, and placed into a carry bag for convenient transport and storage.

  • Assembly and Disassembly: The manual provides detailed steps for both assembly and folding. Assembly begins by undoing fasteners, removing the base mattress, pulling up short and long rails until they are rigid and locked, pushing the center of the floor down, and placing the mattress. All rails must be completely locked before use.

Maintenance Features

Proper care and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and safety of the Crolla travel cot:

  • Cleaning: The travel cot can be spot cleaned using a sponge and soapy water. It is important not to use undiluted neutral detergent, gasoline, or other organic solvents, as these can damage the travel cot material. For the carry bag, machine washing in lukewarm water and drip-drying is recommended, with a strict instruction not to use bleach.

  • Environmental Care: If the travel cot is used outdoors, such as at the beach or in the garden, it is essential to clean off any sand and grit. Sand in the long rail locks can cause damage and impede proper folding and unfolding.

  • Regular Inspection: Users are advised to periodically check the travel cot for any worn parts, torn material, or stitching. Any damaged parts should be replaced or repaired as needed to ensure the continued safety of the child.

  • Storage: When the travel cot is not in use for an extended period, it should be stored in the shade, out of reach of children. This helps protect the materials from degradation and ensures the cot remains in good condition for future use.

Safety Warnings

The manual includes extensive safety warnings to ensure the child's well-being:

  • Adult assembly is required.
  • Always use the travel cot on a flat, level floor.
  • Be aware of the risk of open fire and other sources of strong heat near the cot.
  • To prevent strangulation, do not place items with strings around the child's neck, suspend strings from the product, or attach strings to toys.
  • All assembly fittings must be tightened properly and checked regularly.
  • Discontinue use if any part is broken, torn, or missing, and only use manufacturer-approved spare parts.
  • Never leave the child unattended and always keep them in view.
  • Use the travel cot with only one child at a time and do not use more than one mattress.
  • Do not leave anything in the travel cot or place it close to another product that could provide a foothold or present a danger of suffocation or strangulation (e.g., strings, blind curtain cords).
  • Ensure the product is completely folded or unfolded before letting the child approach it.
  • Attend to the child while in the bassinet and do not place the bassinet in a dangerous place.
  • Keep accessories out of the child's reach and remove them when the child can pull themselves up.
  • Only use the mattress sold with the cot; do not add a second mattress to prevent suffocation hazards.

These features and guidelines ensure that the Crolla travel cot provides a safe, adaptable, and convenient solution for parents and their children.
