Operating
Your Lawn
Mower
Throttle / Choke Control
NOTE: When operating the mower with the cutting deck
engaged, be certain that the throttle/choke control is in
the fast position.
The throttle / choke control is used to adjust engine
speeds, to activate the engine choke and to stop the en-
gine. Always run engine with the throttle / choke control
lever in the fast position for best mower performance.
Choke: Use when starting a cold engine
Fast: Use during mower operation.
Slow: Use when idling engine.
Stop: Stops the engine.
Refer to Starting The Engine in the Operation section of
this manual for detailed starting instructions.
Engine
Service the engine with gasoline and oil as instructed in
the separate engine manual.
Deck Height Lever
Use this lever to adjust the mowing deck’s cutting
height. T use, move the lever to the left, then place the
lever in the notch best suited for your application.
Ignition Switch
WARNING: Never leave a running
machine unattended. Always disengage
PTO, move shift lever into neutral
position, set parking brake, stop engine
and remove key to prevent unintended
starting.
To start the engine, insert the key into the ignition switch
and turn clockwise to the START position. Release the
key into the RUN position once the engine has started.
To stop the engine, turn the ignition key counterclockwise
to the STOP position. See Figure 4-2.
CAUTION: Never move the key into the
Start position while the engine is running;
doing so may cause damage to the
engine’s starter.
