Cutting Deck Removal
WARNING! Before performing any maintenance or
repairs, disengage blades, stop engine and remove
key (if equipped) to prevent unintended starting.
To remove the cutting deck, proceed as follows:
1. Remove the belt cover by removing the three screws (a)
and washers (b) which secure it to the frame. See Figure 7-1.
WARNING: Do not operate mower without the
belt cover installed. Failure to follow this instruction
could result in personal injury or property damage.

2. Place the deck height lever in its highest position.
3. Position wood blocks at various places under the decks
edge. These will temporarily support the deck as you
unmount it.
4. Use the deck height lever to lower the deck, so that it rests
on the wood blocks.
5. Remove the screw (a) and flange nut (b) which secures the
belt keeper rod to the left side of the mower’s frame.
See Figure 7-2.

6. Remove the belt keeper rod and remove the deck belt from
around the mower’s engine pulley.
7. Looking at the cutting deck from the left side, locate and
carefully remove the hairpin clips (a) that secure the deck
supports on the rear left side and front left side of the deck.

8. Repeat Step 7 on the mower’s right side.
9. Carefully remove the front deck supports from the deck lift
arms. See Figure 7-3.
