Questions and Answers

Why does my Cub Cadet CC500 engine fail to start?
    • K
      karen51Aug 14, 2025
Your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower engine might fail to start due to several reasons. It could be that the blade control is disengaged, so engage it. Another cause might be a disconnected spark plug boot; connect the wire to the spark boot. The fuel tank might be empty or contain stale fuel, in which case you should fill the tank with clean, fresh gasoline. If your mower has a primer, the engine may not be primed, so prime it as instructed in the Operation section. Other potential causes include a faulty spark plug (clean, adjust gap, or replace), a blocked fuel line (clean it), a flooded engine (wait a few minutes to restart, but do not prime), a closed fuel valve (open it; see the engine manual), or the engine not being choked (choke the engine; see the engine manual).

Why does my Cub Cadet CC500 Lawn Mower have an uneven cut?
    • M
      Mark SmithAug 17, 2025
An uneven cut from your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower may be because the wheels are not positioned correctly. Place all four wheels in the same height position, if your mower is equipped with individual height adjusters. It could also be due to a dull blade; sharpen or replace the blade.

What to do if my Cub Cadet CC500 engine runs erratic?
    • S
      sonya35Aug 21, 2025
If your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower engine is running erratically, it could be due to a loose spark plug boot; connect and tighten it. A blocked fuel line or stale fuel could also be the culprit; clean the fuel line and fill the tank with clean, fresh gasoline. Check if the vent in the gas cap is plugged and clear it. Water or dirt in the fuel system can also cause this issue; drain the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel. Also, check the air cleaner (refer to the engine manual) and ensure the unit isn't running with the choke applied; if so, push the choke knob in.

How to fix poor idling on my Cub Cadet Lawn Mower?
    • H
      Haley BallAug 26, 2025
Poor idling in your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower can be caused by a spark plug that is fouled, faulty, or has a gap that is too wide. Reset the gap to .030” or replace the spark plug. Another potential cause is a dirty air cleaner; refer to the engine manual.

Why does my Cub Cadet Lawn Mower engine overheat?
    • J
      John ParkerAug 29, 2025
If your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower engine overheats, it could be due to a low engine oil level. Fill the crankcase with the proper oil. Another cause could be restricted airflow; clean the area around and on top of the engine.

What to do if my Cub Cadet CC500 Lawn Mower will not mulch grass?
    • S
      Stephanie WilliamsSep 1, 2025
If your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower won't mulch grass, it might be because the grass is wet; avoid mowing when grass is wet and wait until it's dry. Excessively high grass can also prevent mulching; mow once at a high cutting height, then mow again at the desired height or make a narrower cutting path. A dull blade can also be the cause; sharpen or replace the blade.

What causes excessive vibration in my Cub Cadet CC500 Lawn Mower?
    • B
      Brian BrewerSep 5, 2025
Excessive vibration in your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower is often due to a loose or unbalanced cutting blade. Tighten the blade and adapter, and balance the blade. A bent cutting blade can also cause vibration; in this case, see an authorized service dealer.

Why does my Cub Cadet Lawn Mower occasionally skip at high speed?
    • A
      April GonzalezSep 9, 2025
