Do you have a question about the DACE LUX DC12 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The LUX DC12 is a garage door operator designed for automating single or double roll-up garage doors. It is a 12 Volt DC system, making it battery-operated, and is specifically designed for vertical mount roll-up installations.

Function Description:

The primary function of the LUX DC12 is to open and close garage doors automatically. It incorporates several features to enhance convenience, security, and safety. The operator is controlled via a main electronic circuit board, which houses an onboard receiver for remote control signals.

Key operational features include:

  • Open and Close Limits: The operator can be programmed to recognize the specific open and close positions of the door. This is a crucial initial setup step, indicated by an "nl" flash on the LED display if not set.
  • Opening & Closing Force Adjustment: Users can set the force limits (F0 to F9) for opening and closing the door, which is important for safety and preventing damage.
  • Safety Beams: The system supports optional infrared safety beams. When enabled, these beams detect obstructions in the doorway, preventing the door from closing and reopening it if an obstruction is detected during the closing cycle. The operator will automatically enable the safety beam function if auto-close is activated.
  • Auto Close Function: The door can be programmed to close automatically after a set period (A0 to A9, in 10-second increments, up to 90 seconds). This feature requires safety beams to be installed and enabled.
  • Auxiliary Output Options: The operator offers versatile auxiliary outputs that can be configured for various functions:
    • Auxiliary Light (AL): An adjustable pulsed output (0.25 seconds to 9 minutes) that activates when the door opens. It can be used to switch on external lights or bypass alarm passives.
    • Low Battery Warning (Ab): Activates when the battery is low, providing an indication via a buzzer, light, or external GSM.
    • Auxiliary Trigger (At): Provides a pulsed trigger output every time the door is activated in the fully closed position, useful for activating other devices like lights or alarm systems.
    • Auxiliary Status (AS): Indicates the door's status (open/closed) and battery charging status, connectable to an external LED or GSM device for remote monitoring.
  • Electric/Magnetic Lock Control: The operator can control an external electric (strike lock) or magnetic (power lock) for enhanced security. It's crucial to select the correct lock type in the programming menu to avoid damage.
  • Remote Control Programming: Up to 64 remote controls can be programmed. Remote buttons can be assigned to trigger the operator (open/close), turn the courtesy light on/off, or activate the Holiday Lockout feature.
  • Holiday Lockout: A security feature that prevents any remote from activating the operator when active. It is deactivated by pressing the assigned remote button.
  • Courtesy Light: A built-in LED light that switches on for 5 minutes when the operator is activated. It can also be controlled by a dedicated remote button, staying on for an hour or until switched off. During a power failure, it remains on for 1 minute.
  • Anti-Crush Gap: A 30cm space at the end of the closing cycle. If a trigger is received in this gap, the door reopens to prevent entrapment.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Transformer Input Voltage: 220-240V AC @ 50Hz (Output: 16VAC)
  • Board Input Supply: 12-18V AC or 17-22V DC
  • Motor Voltage: 12V
  • Motor Power (Rated): 150W
  • Maximum Holding Capacity: 1200N
  • Maximum Push/Pull Force: 50kgF
  • Battery: 12V DC (5Ah battery for calculations)
  • Maximum Daily Operations (or in standby):
    • 10kgF: 110 (55 standby) cycles
    • 20kgF: 86 (43 standby) cycles
    • 30kgF: 62 (31 standby) cycles
    • 40kgF: 40 (20 standby) cycles
    • 50kgF: 16 (8 standby) cycles
  • Maximum Door Size: 15m²
  • Travel Speed: 8.5m/min (dependent on load and battery voltage)
  • Programmable Remotes: Up to 64
  • Error Codes: The operator features an electronic alphanumeric display that shows error codes (e.g., E1, E4 for Drive Error; Fu for Fuse Blown; di for Motor Disconnect; NL for No Limits; bb for Beams Blocked; LO for Lockout; ES for Encoder Stop/Fault/Obstruction; Er for Error Programming Remote; HL for Heavy Load; Cb for Check Balance; Lb for Low Battery; PF for Power Fail) to assist with fault finding and troubleshooting.

Usage Features:

  • Vertical Mount Roll Up Design: Specifically engineered for vertical mount roll-up garage doors, with the drive channel mounted on the left, right, or middle (for double doors).
  • Manual Release Mechanism: A lever assembly allows the operator to be placed in manual mode, enabling manual operation of the garage door. Caution is advised when using this, as the door may move unexpectedly.
  • Solar Panel Compatibility: The operator can be connected to a solar panel (20W min, 17-22V DC output) for charging, requiring the transformer to be removed when using solar power.
  • Programming Menu: An intuitive programming menu, accessed via the SET button, allows users to configure all operational parameters using UP and DOWN buttons.
  • Factory Reset: A factory reset option (Menu 8) is available to revert all settings to default.

Maintenance Features:

  • Warranty: DACE provides a 24-month warranty covering defects in material and workmanship for the gearbox and onboard controller. The warranty requires an original invoice or is deemed effective from the date of manufacture if operational data is unavailable. It explicitly covers repairs, components, and labor carried out at DACE.
  • Warranty Exclusions: The warranty does not cover misuse, improper installation, unauthorized repairs, use of non-authorized components, Acts of God (lightning, hail, water, power surge, insect damage, corrosion), transport costs, or third-party costs.
  • Door Balance Check: Regular inspection (every 6 months) of the door balance is recommended. The door should move easily by hand and not close on its own when released. If defective, it should be disconnected and repaired by a qualified technician.
  • Battery Operation: As the unit is battery-operated, it's crucial to ensure the battery is always connected when the operator is in use. Both mains power and battery should be disconnected before working on the operator. Low battery conditions are indicated by an "Lb" error message.
  • Troubleshooting via Error Codes: The LED display provides specific error codes that guide users in diagnosing and resolving issues, such as checking wiring for motor disconnections or programming limits for "No Limits" errors.
