8. If the camera will only be used by a computer directly connected to the router, either
by an Ethernet cable or by WiFi, the software will address the camera by its native IP
address and port number. The label on the camera junction box provides these
numbers. For example:
IP: 192.168.1.106: 1600
9. In addition to or instead of using a computer on the cameras router, the camera
may also be made accessible to any computer that is not directly connected to the
cameras router, that is, at a different location, no matter how remote, via the
internet. To enable this, the cameras router must be setup to port forward the
cameras IP address. Each type of router has a bit different means to do this so
consult the routers documentation or obtain help. The resulting forwarded IP
address and port number will be required for setup of an OTDAU software
configuration for your camera.
Another somewhat simpler method to accomplish port forwarding is to use your
routers UpNP feature. Enable UpNP in the router and also in the camera via the
cameras WEB interface.
