This document is an operation manual for Daikin Room Air Conditioners, specifically models FTXN50KV1B and FTXN60KV1B, which are inverter-type units. The manual provides detailed instructions for operation, care, and troubleshooting.
Function Description
The Daikin Room Air Conditioner is designed to provide comfortable indoor climate control through various operation modes: AUTO, DRY, COOL, HEAT, and FAN. It utilizes inverter technology for efficient performance. The unit can be controlled via a remote controller, which allows users to select modes, adjust temperature, set airflow direction, and utilize timer functions.

Usage Features
Operation Modes:
The air conditioner offers five primary operation modes:
- AUTO: The system automatically selects COOL or HEAT based on room and outdoor temperatures.
- DRY: Reduces room humidity while maintaining temperature. Temperature and airflow rate are automatically controlled.
- COOL: Cools the room by releasing heat outdoors.
- HEAT: Heats the room by taking heat from outdoor air. Heating capacity may decrease in lower outdoor temperatures.
- FAN: Operates as a fan only, circulating air without heating or cooling.
Temperature Adjustment:
Users can adjust the temperature setting using the remote controller's TEMPERATURE adjustment buttons. The temperature setting is not variable in DRY or FAN modes.
Airflow Rate Setting:
Five levels of airflow rate are available in AUTO, COOL, HEAT, and FAN modes. An "Indoor unit quiet operation" setting is also available to reduce noise. Airflow rate setting is not variable in DRY mode.
Airflow Direction Adjustment:
- Upper and Lower Airflow Direction (Flap): The horizontal blade (flap) can be set to auto swing or stopped at a desired position using the SWING button.
- Vertical Airflow Direction (Louvers): The vertical blades (louvers) can be manually adjusted by holding the knob on the left and right sides. Caution is advised as the fan rotates at high speed inside the air outlet.
POWERFUL Operation:
This function maximizes cooling or heating effect for 20 minutes, providing maximum capacity in any operation mode. It can only be set when the unit is running. In COOL, HEAT, and AUTO modes, outdoor unit capacity is increased, and airflow is fixed to maximum. In DRY mode, temperature is lowered by 2.5°C, and airflow is slightly increased. In FAN mode, airflow is fixed to maximum.
Timer Functions:
- OFF TIMER: Automatically switches off the air conditioner after a set period (1 to 9 hours). When set, the "NIGHT SET mode" automatically adjusts temperature (0.5°C up in COOL, 2.0°C down in HEAT) for comfortable sleep.
- ON TIMER: Automatically switches on the air conditioner after a set period (1 to 12 hours).
- Combined Timer: OFF TIMER and ON TIMER can be used in combination.
Remote Controller:
The remote controller (ARC470A5) features a signal transmitter, LCD display, and various buttons for mode selection, temperature adjustment, fan settings, swing control, and timer functions. Batteries (AAA.LR03 alkaline) need to be replaced approximately once a year. The remote controller can be fixed to a wall using a supplied holder.
Maintenance Features
General Care and Cleaning:
- Indoor Unit, Outdoor Unit, and Remote Controller: Wipe with a dry, soft cloth.
- Front Panel: Can be removed for cleaning. Wipe with a soft cloth soaked in water; neutral detergent may be used. Dry in the shade after washing. Avoid hot water above 40°C, benzine, gasoline, thinner, or abrasive cleaners.
- Air Filters: Should be cleaned every 2 weeks. Pull out the air filters, wash them with water or clean with a vacuum cleaner. If heavily soiled, use neutral detergent and lukewarm water, then dry in the shade.
- Titanium Apatite Photocatalytic Air-Purifying Filter: This filter is attached inside the air filters. It can be renewed by washing with water every 6 months and should be replaced every 3 years. For washing, vacuum dusts and soak in warm water for 10-15 minutes. Do not remove the filter from its frame when washing. After washing, shake off excess water and dry in the shade. For replacement, remove tabs on the filter frame and insert a new filter (Part No. KAF970A46). Dispose of old filters as non-flammable waste.
Before a Long Idle Period:
- Operate the FAN only for several hours on a fine day to dry out the inside of the unit.
- Turn off the breaker for the room air conditioner.
- Clean the air filters.
- Remove batteries from the remote controller.
Periodical Maintenance:
Beyond user cleaning, periodical maintenance by a specialist is recommended to ensure optimal performance and prevent foul odors or reduced efficiency, especially after several seasons of use.
Troubleshooting:
The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues, categorizing them as "Not trouble" (normal operation characteristics) or "Check" (requiring user action or professional service). It covers issues such as:
- Flap not swinging immediately.
- HEAT operation stopping suddenly with a flowing sound (defrosting).
- Operation not starting immediately (protection mechanism).
- Unusual sounds (flow of water, blowing, pinging, clicking, clopping).
- Outdoor unit emitting water or steam.
- Air conditioner not operating (OPERATION lamp off).
- Operation stopped suddenly (OPERATION lamp flashing).
- Mist coming out of the indoor unit.
- Poor cooling/heating effect.
- Remote controller not working properly.
- Outdoor fan rotating when the unit is not in operation.
- Abnormal functioning during operation.
- Indoor unit giving out odor.
Fault Diagnosis by Remote Controller:
The remote controller can display error codes (e.g., U0, A1, H0) to help diagnose issues. By holding the CANCEL button for 5 seconds, a "00" indication blinks, and subsequent presses of CANCEL cycle through error codes.
Safety Precautions:
The manual emphasizes safety with WARNING and CAUTION sections, covering topics such as:
- Avoiding operation near flammable/corrosive gases.
- Preventing prolonged direct exposure to airflow.
- Not inserting objects into air inlets/outlets.
- Prohibiting self-repair or modification.
- Avoiding flammable sprays near the unit.
- Precautions regarding refrigerant leakage.
- Proper installation and earthing.
- Not using the unit for non-intended purposes (e.g., cooling precision instruments, plants).
- Ensuring adequate room ventilation when using other burners.
- Turning off the breaker before cleaning.
- Using specified power supply circuits.
- Ensuring smooth drain hose drainage.
- Keeping the outdoor unit clear of debris and animals.
- Keeping children away from the appliance.
- Not operating with wet hands or washing the unit with water.
- Not placing water containers above the unit.
- Consulting the dealer for installation in specific environments (oily, salty, sulfide gas, snow-prone).
- Considering noise nuisance to neighbors.
- Consulting the dealer for system relocation.
Disposal Requirements:
The product and batteries are marked with symbols indicating they should not be mixed with unsorted household waste. Specialized treatment facilities are required for re-use, recycling, and recovery, in accordance with local and national legislation. The battery may contain lead (Pb >0.004%).
