If the DANA Other axle doesn’t shift ranges, begin by checking the circuit breaker to ensure it is closed. Then, check for power at the shift unit, ensuring a voltage reading of 9V or more. Remove the shift unit from the axle and apply voltage to see if the unit shifts properly. Inspect the slider block from the bottom of the shift unit to see if it is loose or missing. Also, inspect the appearance of the shift fork and check its fit with a depth card to see if the fork matches the depth card output. Finally, remove and inspect the axle shift parts to check if engagement surfaces are severely worn, chipped, or broken. If worn components are found, replace them.
