SECTION 3 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
3.1 INTRODUCTORY NOTES
The Dando Terrier Mk 1 Drilling Rig is a crawler mounted mobile drilling rig
designed for operating in areas of tight space, inclined slopes and difficult
access, incorporating a range of proprietary items. Operating and
Maintenance procedures for the carrier and these items are supplied with the
rig and should be studied before using and setting the rig to work.
3.2 ACCEPTANCE OF RIG
On taking delivery of a new rig, generally check it over to see that no material
damage has occurred during transit. Remove all loose items, unpack cases
etc., and check the consignment against the Delivery Note or Packing List.
Rigs are normally dispatched completely assembled and in full working order.
For rigs dis-assembled in any form see separate instructions.
Before using the rig, it is strongly recommended that the operator becomes
completely familiar with the layout of the rig and controls in conjunction with
these instructions so that the general operational procedure and basic
mechanism of the rig are clearly understood. These instructions cover the
standard basic rig and controls, but may differ if customer special
requirements have been made to the system, in which event these
controls/functions will be labelled accordingly.
3.3 INITIAL CHECKS
Before starting the rig, it is advisable to carry out an initial check over and
locate all lubricating points. This would include checks on the following:
ENGINE: Oil, fuel, coolant and battery.
MAST: Identify and grease all lubrication points.
HYDRAULIC OIL RESERVOIR: Level of oil.
