Device to Simulate
The first setting to adjust is the Device to Simulate popdown, which will display a list
of your available profiles. Choose your custom printer profile for the inks and papers
you will be using. Leave Preserve RGB Numbers unchecked, as it does not produce a
color corrected result.
Rendering Intent
Choose the rendering intent you will be printing with here. For more on choosing a
rendering intent see
Color Gamuts and Rendering Intents.
Black Point Compensation
Black Point Compensation should be set as it will in your printing. BPC does not effect
Saturation or Perceptual profiles, but may make blacks less dark in prints made with
Colorimetric intents.
On-Screen Display Options
These options only effect SoftProofing. With appropriate Ref White and Black settings
in your profile, checking both these boxes will offer improved screen to print matching
on many types of media. For very white media with colorants that offer deep blacks
and bright colors on the chosen media, SoftProofing will have little impact. This is often
true for gloss and luster inkjet prints. For matte and fine art media, and for inks with
more limited color gamuts, SoftProofing can show more dramatic improvement in the
screen to print match.
