Once SoftProofing has been configured users can edit SoftProofed images to optimize
printed output on the specific printer, colorant, and media involved. Highlights and
shadow detail can be corrected, neutrals adjusted, and color saturation tweaked. The
next section deals specificlywith edting out of gamut colors.
Advanced Topic: Gamut Warning and Color Adjustment
Photoshop’s Gamut Warning tool allow users to see which colors in their image are out
of the printable range of the printer, colorants, and media chosen in the Proof Setup.
Out of gamut colors will be brought into gamut by the selected rendering intent. But it
is sometimes preferable to bring these colors into the printer’s range yourself, to
control the resulting color choices.
When the Photoshop’s Gamut Warning tool is selected, the Gamut Warning Color
(selected in Preferences) is applied to all out of gamut areas of the image.
