Overview

This document is a user's manual for DAUSCHER freezers, covering models DCF-110Q, DCF-160Q, DCF-210Q, and DCF-420Q. It provides essential information regarding safety, operation, and maintenance of the appliance.

Function Description

The DAUSCHER freezer is designed for household and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, bed and breakfast environments, and catering. Its primary function is to keep food fresh for extended periods by storing frozen foods and making ice. It is suitable for storing various items such as meat, fish, shrimp, pastries, and other foods not intended for short-term consumption. The freezer is equipped with a fast-freezing function to quickly freeze large amounts of food, preserving its nutritional value.

Important Technical Specifications

The freezer utilizes R600a refrigerant and cyclopentane foaming material, both of which are flammable. This necessitates careful handling during disposal. The appliance is designed to operate within specific temperature ranges, with a recommended ambient temperature of 25°C/77°F or less for optimal performance at -30°C/-22°F settings.

Temperature Control: The freezer features an electronic control panel with indicator lamps for high temperature warning, super-freeze, Centigrade, and Fahrenheit temperature displays.

  • Temperature Setting Range:
    • Centigrade: -1°C to -30°C
    • Fahrenheit: 31°F to -22°F
  • Super-freeze Function: Activates a rapid freezing mode, indicated by a dedicated lamp. It can be manually activated or automatically quit after 24 hours of continuous compressor operation, power failure, or sensor failure.
  • High Temperature Alarm: An indicator lamp illuminates to signal high temperatures within the freezer.
  • Power Failure Memory: The freezer retains its operating state from before a power failure and resumes operation accordingly once power is restored. The super-freeze function is automatically deactivated after a power failure.
  • Fault Codes: The display shows error codes (e.g., E2 for temperature sensor failure) to indicate malfunctions, prompting users to contact a specialist.

Placement Requirements:

  • The freezer should be placed in a well-ventilated indoor area on a flat, sturdy surface.
  • Maintain a minimum of 70cm clearance above the freezer and at least 20cm clearance from both sides and the back for proper heat dissipation.
  • Avoid placing the freezer near heat sources, direct sunlight, or in damp, splash-prone locations to prevent rust or reduced insulation effectiveness.

Usage Features

Initial Setup:

  • Before first use, remove all packaging materials, including bottom cushions, foam pads, tapes, and protective films from the door and body.
  • Allow the freezer to stand for at least 2 hours after transportation before plugging it in to prevent damage to the compressor.
  • Run the freezer for 2-3 hours before loading fresh or frozen foods. In summer, or when ambient temperatures are high, run it for more than 4 hours.
  • In case of power failure or cleaning, unplug the freezer. Do not reconnect it within five minutes to prevent compressor damage from successive starts.

Operation:

  • Lock/Unlock Function: The control panel is locked by default after initial electrification. Pressing the "SUPER" key for 3 seconds locks the display, and the set temperature takes effect. The display blinks once when locking. After 30 seconds of no-key operation, it automatically locks. To unlock, press the "SUPER" key for 3 seconds until the display blinks once.
  • Temperature Unit Conversion: Long-pressing the "TEMP" key for 3 seconds allows switching between Centigrade and Fahrenheit temperature displays.
  • Sleep Function: Enabled by default, the display extinguishes after 30 seconds of temperature confirmation. It can be toggled on/off by simultaneously pressing the "TEMP" and "SUPER" keys for 5 seconds.

Energy Saving Tips:

  • Locate the appliance in the coolest part of the room, away from heat-producing appliances, heating ducts, and direct sunlight.
  • Allow hot foods to cool to room temperature before placing them in the freezer to reduce compressor run time and prevent food spoilage.
  • Properly wrap foods and wipe containers dry before freezing to minimize frost build-up.
  • Avoid lining storage bins with aluminum foil, wax paper, or paper toweling, as these impede cold air circulation.
  • Organize and label food to reduce door openings and search times. Remove only necessary items at once and close the door promptly.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

  • Regularly clean dust from behind the freezer and on the ground to improve cooling efficiency and energy saving.
  • Inspect the door gasket regularly for debris and clean it with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water or diluted detergent.
  • Clean the interior regularly to prevent odors. Unplug the freezer, remove all food and baskets before cleaning.
  • Use a soft cloth or sponge with a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda and a quart of warm water for interior cleaning. Rinse with water and wipe dry.
  • For hard-to-reach areas, use a soft rag, soft brush, or auxiliary tools to prevent contaminant accumulation.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, hard brushes, steel wool, wire brushes, organic solvents (alcohol, acetone, banana oil), boiling water, or acidic/alkaline items, as these can damage the freezer's surfaces and plastic parts.
  • Avoid spraying or rinsing the freezer with water or other liquids to prevent electrical insulation damage, electric shock, or fire.

Defrosting:

  • The freezer requires manual defrosting.
  • Unplug the freezer, open the door, and remove all food and shelving baskets.
  • Open the outflow and drainage holes and place a water container beneath them.
  • Allow frost to melt naturally, then wipe the defrost water with a dry, soft cloth. An ice scraper can be used to accelerate the process once the frost softens.
  • Store removed food in a cool place during defrosting.
  • Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate defrosting other than those recommended by the manufacturer. Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.

Stopping Use:

  • Power Failure: Foods can be preserved for a few hours even in summer. Reduce door openings and avoid placing fresh foods in the freezer during a power outage.
  • Long-term Non-use: Unplug the freezer, clean it, and leave the door open to prevent odors.
  • Moving: Do not turn the freezer upside down or vibrate it excessively. The carrying angle should not exceed 45°. Do not hold the door or hinge when moving the unit.
  • Continuous operation is recommended once the freezer is started to maximize its service life. Avoid stopping the freezer under normal circumstances.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the freezer not working, odors, compressor running for extended periods, light not working, doors not closing properly, loud noises, difficulty opening the door, overheating on sidewalls, surface condensation, and airflow/compressor sounds. Users are advised to contact after-sale service if issues persist.
