Function Description

The Cardio Prime LCD provides a comprehensive health assessment. After turning on, the device performs a self-test and displays a stand-by screen, indicating it is calibrated and ready for use. Users can select desired measurement options, insert coins (if applicable), and proceed with the measurements. The device is designed to be user-friendly, with on-screen instructions guiding the process.

Weight and Height Measurement: The appliance measures weight and height automatically. Users are instructed to stand straight on the platform. For children and teenagers (2-19 years old), results are displayed on a chart of percentiles, and tickets include a table of common percentiles with reference BMI. The device can also be used with an optional baby scale accessory for weighing infants (0-24 months), providing weight measurements in 10g divisions and a special ticket with baby weight information. If an error in height measurement occurs or the HEIGHT flag is off, manual height entry is prompted. The Basal Metabolic Rate (B.M.R.) can also be calculated for adult users (20 years or older) if the BMR flag is activated, providing calorie consumption recommendations based on lifestyle.

Body Fat Index Measurement: The Body Fat Index is calculated using bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) via four electrodes on the handles. Users must hold the lateral sensors firmly with clean, bare, and slightly damp hands. The device measures the body's resistance, and an imprecise contact can lead to inaccurate results. The measurement is optional and can be skipped. An additional screen can display Body Composition, including estimated amounts of Water, Mineral, and Protein, if the W-P-M flag is activated. Limitations for Body Fat Index measurement include: children, elderly men and post-menopausal women, body-builders, professional athletes, individuals with colds or fever, edema, osteoporosis, pregnant women, dialysis patients, immediately after energetic physical exercise, sauna, bath, drinking alcoholic beverages, drinking a lot of water or eating (wait 1-2 hours), and during menstruation. Precautions advise against use for individuals with acute contagious illnesses, medical implants (e.g., pacemakers), or abnormal blood pressure/cardiac illness.

Blood Pressure Measurement: Blood pressure is measured using an oscillometric method. Users insert their bare wrist into the appliance's bracelet. The bracelet inflates to 250 mmHg and then deflates automatically, displaying a graphic of blood pressure on the screen. The measurement can be interrupted, and after two failed attempts, the device assumes measurement is not possible.

Vascular Health Measurement: Vascular health is assessed by placing the index finger of the left hand on a sensor. It is crucial to insert the finger completely into the sensor for accurate results. The measurement can be interrupted. After three failed attempts to measure arterial pulse, the device indicates it cannot measure. Limitations for Vascular Health measurement include: people with arrhythmia or other cardiac diseases, people wearing artificial nails or manicure. Situations to avoid for precise measurement include moving or speaking during measurement, moving a finger during measurement, exercise or intense effort before measurement, smoking, taking drugs or coffee within 3 hours prior, drinking alcohol the day prior, eating within 2 hours before measurement, wearing rings, or having cold hands.

Results: After each measurement, the appliance displays the obtained values. A summary of all results, including recommended values, is provided at the end. A warning advises against self-medication based on these measurements.

Usage Features

Start-up and Operation: The device starts with a self-test (1-2 minutes) and then displays a stand-by screen with the time and a logotype. To begin, users step onto the platform, select a measurement option (if Vascular Health flag is OFF, this step is skipped), and insert coins. If multiple prices are configured, users can select "START" for the first option or add more coins for additional options. If only one price or maximum amount is reached, measurement starts automatically.

Warnings: A "NO PAPER" warning indicates the printer is out of paper, preventing ticket printing. This warning disappears when paper is detected.

Sex and Age Entry: Sex and age are requested for accurate Body Fat Index calculations and weighing. This step is skipped if BABY SCALE, BARCODE READER, and CUSTOMER CARD flags are OFF.

Programming and Settings: The device offers an extensive programming menu accessible via a keypad code (2222 during self-test, then 6543232 for adjustment menu). This menu allows for:

Maintenance Features

Preventive Activities: The only maintenance permitted for unqualified personnel is changing the paper roll. All other repairs or annual maintenance checks must be performed by the Authorized Technical Assistance Service DAVI & CIA personnel. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by qualified personnel.

Cleaning:

Device: Turn off and disconnect from mains. Clean the body with a slightly damp soft cloth. Do not use gasoline or similar solvent products.
Bracelet: Clean with a cloth soaked in water and neutral detergent, then dry with a dry cloth.

Changing Paper:

Open the front door.
Replace the paper roll, ensuring correct orientation.
Place the paper end close to the lower part of the roller.
The paper sensor will automatically feed the paper.
Ensure paper is introduced through the cutter. If not, remove and repeat from step 3.
Press the feed paper button (top right) once to cut the remaining paper.
Close the front door.

Appliance Removal: The product should not be disposed of with domestic waste. It must be taken to a proper dumping site. The packaging is recyclable. The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol indicates that the appliance should not be treated as urban waste at the end of its useful life.

Recording BASE_14D: This process requires a PC and the DAVIFlash program (provided by DAVI & CIA), which needs .NET Framework. BIN files for recording should be placed in the Flash folder.

Turn off the scale.
Set the SW3.1 switch on the BASE_14D board to ON.
Connect the provided wire from DAVI & CIA to the CO44 connector on the BASE_14D and the PC.
Turn on the scale.
Run DAVIFlash.exe on the PC.
Select the serial port in DAVIFlash.
On the scale, choose "1> FLASH".
On the next screen, choose "1> TEST COMMS".
Check for "RESET" in DAVIFlash window. If it appears, press START. If not, press STOP, re-select "1> TEST COMMS", and check connections after 3 tries.
After successful communication, select "2> PROGRAM FLASH".
Select the flash to record.
Press [START] to begin recording (approx. 10 minutes per flash).
When finished, "END FLASH PROGRAM" appears.
Press STOP to exit.
Turn off the scale, disconnect the serial cable, and set SW3.1 back to OFF.

Technical Review: The equipment complies with EN 60601-1-2 (2007) / AC (2010) for electromagnetic interference and immunity. The main supply is isolated by a bipolar switch on the rear of the unit. Modifications without manufacturer authorization are prohibited. DAVI & CIA provides circuit diagrams, component lists, and calibration instructions for replaceable parts.

Certificate of Guarantee: A one-year warranty covers damage from normal operation or manufacturing defects. Mobile parts (wires, power appliance) are excluded. Rectification is free upon presentation of the purchase receipt. Return shipment is at the customer's expense if outside headquarters. Guarantee rights for shipping damage are granted only if shipped in original packaging. Post-warranty services are at the user's expense.
