Overview

The Dayliff DG Portable Diesel Generators are a range of dependable, quality products specifically designed for mains standby and remote site power supply applications. These generators are manufactured to high standards, ensuring efficient and trouble-free service when installed and operated correctly.

Function Description

The primary function of the Dayliff DG Portable Diesel Generators is to provide reliable electrical power for various applications. They are equipped with air-cooled diesel engines, which are known for their reliability and economical operation. The generators feature high-efficiency square core alternators that deliver consistent power output. Many models include a DC output, which can be used for charging automotive and solar 12V batteries. For enhanced convenience and safety, an integrated control panel with a voltmeter is standard, allowing users to monitor operational parameters easily.

A key feature for certain models is the Automatic Mains Failure (AMF) auto-start facility. When combined with an optional Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) power changeover panel, this allows for fully automatic operation during power failures, making them ideal for standby applications where continuous power is critical.

The DGW200D model offers a dual function, providing both AC auxiliary current and DC welding current simultaneously. This versatility makes it suitable for applications requiring both power generation and welding capabilities.

Usage Features

The Dayliff DG generators are designed for ease of use and safety. For open-set models, a strong tubular frame provides protection and facilitates easy handling. Acoustic models feature a strengthened canopy on castors, which significantly limits noise levels, making them suitable for environments where noise reduction is important.

Safety is paramount, and the generators incorporate several protective features. An oil alert system is included to stop the engine automatically in the event of low oil levels, preventing severe engine damage. Fuseless type overcurrent protection is also standard, safeguarding the generator and connected appliances from electrical overloads.

When operating the generator, it is crucial to follow specific procedures. The generator should always be started before applying any load, by first switching the circuit breaker to the 'off' position. After the generator is running, the load can be applied progressively, starting with the greatest load first. Conversely, when stopping the generator, the load should be disconnected first, followed by stopping the generator. This sequence prevents damage to both the generator and powered accessories.

For models with electric start, the engine should not be cranked for more than 5 seconds at a time. If it fails to start, a 15-second pause is recommended before re-attempting. The fuel valve should always be closed when the generator is not in operation.

The DGW200D welding generator is supplied complete with essential accessories, including an electrode holder, 4m cable, welding clamp, 4m cable, output plugs, and separate castor wheels, enhancing its portability and readiness for welding tasks.

Maintenance Features

Routine maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and efficient operation of Dayliff DG generators. The manual provides clear guidelines for key maintenance tasks.

Engine oil checks are recommended every time the generator is used, with refills as necessary. A full engine oil change is required after the first month or 20 hours of operation, and subsequently every 3 months or 100 hours, whichever comes sooner. Operating the generator without sufficient oil will cause severe engine damage and invalidate the warranty.

The fuel filter, located under the fuel cock, should be checked for debris and cleaned every 3 months. A spanner is required for removal.

The air cleaner also requires regular attention. It should be checked every time the generator is used and cleaned every 3 months or after 100 hours of operation, whichever is sooner. Cleaning involves blowing away accumulated dust and soaking the air cleaner in kerosene.

For comprehensive diesel engine operation and maintenance, users are advised to consult the separate engine manual provided with the generator.

In summary, Dayliff DG Portable Diesel Generators are robust and versatile power solutions, designed with user convenience, safety, and long-term performance in mind, supported by straightforward operational and maintenance procedures.
