2.3 Steam distribution head
The steam distribution heads are available as accessories (“81–...”) in various
length. The steam distribution heads are selected on the basis of the duct width
(for horizontal installation) or the duct height (for vertical installation) and the
capacity of the steam distribution head.
Important! Always select the longest possible steam distribution head (optimum
humidification distance).

The length of steam distribution heads may be customized on request. When
ordering please indicate the type of steam humidifier and the width or height
of the ventilation duct.
Important notes on steam distribution head “Process” (accessory “Z257” to
“Z260”)
The steam distribution head “Process” is used for direct humdification of material
in manufacturing processes (process humidification), or in ventilation ducts with a
critical saturation distance (the steam distribution head “Process” reduces the
saturation distance by approximately 30%). The desired length must be specified
when ordering.
Please contact your Defensor distributor, they will assist you in customising the steam
distribution head “Process”. Please have the following information readily availa-
ble:
- steam quantity in kg/h
- dimensions of ventilation duct (width x height)
Important! The table for the determination of the humidification distance
provided in chapter 2.4 does not apply to the Process steam distribution head.
