Do you have a question about the Delta Children W103150 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Delta Children 4-in-1 Crib is a versatile piece of nursery furniture designed to grow with your child, converting from a crib to a toddler bed, daybed, and full-size bed (conversion kits sold separately). It is manufactured by Delta Enterprise Corp. and was last revised on April 7, 2021.

Function Description:

The primary function of this product is to serve as a safe sleeping environment for infants and young children. Its 4-in-1 design allows for conversion into different bed types as the child grows, extending its utility beyond the infant stage. The crib features an adjustable mattress support with three height positions, allowing parents to lower the mattress as the child develops the ability to pull to a standing position, preventing falls. For newborns, the highest mattress position is recommended for parental convenience. When converted to a toddler bed, it provides a transitional sleeping solution before moving to a regular bed. The daybed configuration offers a comfortable seating option, while the full-size bed conversion (with additional rails) provides a long-term sleeping solution.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Crib Mattress Dimensions: Any mattress used in this crib must be at least 27 1/4 inches (69 cm) by 51 5/8 inches (131 cm) with a maximum thickness of 6 inches (15 cm). For Canada, the mattress thickness should not exceed 15 cm, and when pushed firmly against any side of the crib, it should not leave a gap of more than 3 cm between the mattress and any part of the sides.
  • Toddler Bed Mattress Dimensions (Canada Only): For the toddler bed conversion in Canada, the mattress should be no thicker than 15 cm and of a size that, when pushed firmly against any side of the crib, does not leave a gap of more than 3 cm between the mattress and any part of the sides of the crib.
  • Maximum User Weight (Toddler Bed): The maximum user weight for the toddler bed is 50 lbs (22.7 kg).
  • Adjustable Mattress Support: The crib offers three adjustment positions for the mattress support.
  • Hardware: The assembly requires various bolts (M6 x 115 mm, M6 x 45 mm, M6 x 18 mm), metal pins (Φ4 x 30 mm), crescent washers, an M4 Allen wrench, and an M4 ball-end screwdriver, all of which are supplied.
  • JPMA Certified: The crib is JPMA certified, indicating it meets or exceeds all safety standards set by the CPSC & ASTM.

Usage Features:

  • Adult Assembly Required: Due to the presence of small parts, assembly must be completed by an adult, and children should be kept away until assembly is finished.
  • No Power Screwdriver Needed: The instructions explicitly state "No drills necessary. Do not use power screwdriver," suggesting that manual tightening is sufficient and preferred to avoid over-tightening or damaging the hardware.
  • Mattress Support Orientation: The warnings printed on the pouch attached to the mattress support must face up, and the springs must face up.
  • Safety Warnings: Numerous warnings are provided to ensure safe use:
    • Suffocation Hazard: Infants can suffocate on soft bedding; never add pillows, comforters, or additional padding. Plastic shipping bags or film should not be used as mattress covers. Gaps between crib sides and an undersized mattress can also cause suffocation.
    • Strangulation Hazard: Strings (hood strings, pacifier cords, blind/drape cords) should never be placed around a child's neck, suspended over the crib, or attached to toys. All fasteners must be tightened to prevent parts of the body or clothing from getting trapped. The crib should not be placed near windows or patio doors where cords could strangle a child.
    • Fall Hazard: When a child can pull to a standing position, the mattress must be set to the lowest position, and bumper pads, large toys, or other objects that could serve as steps for climbing out must be removed. Stop using the crib when the child begins to climb out or reaches a height of 35 inches (89 cm), whichever comes first, and transition them to a youth or regular bed.
    • General Safety: Do not use the crib if any parts are missing, damaged, or broken. Do not substitute parts. Ensure all components are properly and securely in place before placing the child in the crib. Never allow a child to play underneath the crib or add accessories that extend over the sleeping area (e.g., bassinet, changing table).
  • Sleep Recommendations: The AAP recommends always laying your baby on its back to sleep and consulting your doctor. The safest place for a baby to sleep is in a JPMA Certified crib on a firm mattress. Never place the crib near a window or wall hangings. Adult beds are not safe for babies; never co-sleep.
  • Conversion to Toddler Bed: When converting to a toddler bed, only one crib side should be removed. The mattress support must be in the lowest position. A conversion rail (Style #0094 Guardrail, sold separately) must be used. It is recommended to loosen mattress support and stabilizer bar bolts during conversion and retighten them afterward.
  • Furniture Safety Tips (General): The manual also includes general furniture safety tips, emphasizing that serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur from furniture tip-over. It advises reading all warnings, always using provided tip-over restraints, never opening more than one drawer at a time, not leaving drawers open, not setting heavy objects (like TVs) on bedroom or nursery furniture, not allowing children to climb or hang on drawers/doors/shelves, and placing the heaviest items in the lowest drawers.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspection: Inspect the product periodically for damaged hardware, loose joints, loose bolts, sharp edges, or missing parts, both before and after assembly and frequently during use. Securely tighten all loose bolts and fasteners.
  • Cleaning: Clean with a damp cloth, then a dry cloth to preserve the original luster and beauty of the finish.
  • Avoid Abrasive Chemicals: Do not use abrasive chemicals or spray cleaners directly onto furniture.
  • Storage: Do not store the product or any parts in extreme temperatures (hot attic, damp/cold basement) as this can cause a loss of structural integrity.
  • Protect Finish: To preserve the luster of the high-quality finish, it is recommended to place a doily or felt pad under any items placed on the finish.
  • Moving Furniture: Lift furniture slightly when moving it on carpeting to prevent leg breakage.
  • Humidity Control: Avoid using a vaporizer near furniture, as it can cause wood to swell and finish to peel.
  • Replacement Parts: Contact Delta Children's Products for replacement parts or instructional literature if needed; do not substitute parts.
  • Refinishing: If refinishing, use a non-toxic finish specified for children's products.
  • Instruction Booklet Storage: Store the assembly instruction booklet in the pouch attached to the mattress support. Store all parts and tools separately in a safe place.
