Fleece Filter VF 5000, VF 8000
1. Intended use
The fleece filters VF 5000 and VF 8000 are intended for use in external filter sumps
and serve to clean the water from the aquarium. Fleece filters of the VF series can be
operated in fresh or marine water.
2. Misuse of the filter
Other uses are not possible with these filters.
3. Assembly and installation of the filter
The fleece filter can be taken out of the packaging and is immediately ready for use.
The filter is set up in the filter sump. When setting up the filter, make sure that the
filter is level, straight and stable. It’s also possible to “hang on” the filter on the sump
wall. The water level in the filter sump can be taken from the technical data listed
below. The water can be supplied directly from the aquarium return, via a bypass or
via a separate pump (not included).
4. Starting up the filter
Connect the pump to the mains. The water is now pumped into the filter. Deltec fleece
filters clean the aquarium water by binding the coarse dirt in a fleece. If this fleece is
so dirty that not enough water can pass through it, the water level in the unit rises
and a float switch starts the motor, which continues to turn the fleece roller until
enough water can pass through the now clean fleece. The emergency overflow also
ensures that the water is discharged in a controlled manner if the water level in the
filter should rise, e.g. due to a failure of the main feed pump.
The highest efficiency is achieved with a water level at the lower edge of the viewing
window. Care must be taken that the maximum water flow is not exceeded.
