Overview

This document provides an instruction manual for the DEWALT DCMWP600 60V Max* Push Mower and DCMWSP650 60V Max* Self-Propelled Mower. It includes safety warnings, operating instructions, and maintenance guidelines for both models.

Function Description:

The DEWALT DCMWP600 is a 60V Max* Push Mower, while the DCMWSP650 is a 60V Max* Self-Propelled Mower. Both are designed for professional lawn mowing applications. The self-propelled model (DCMWSP650) includes a self-drive system that functions independently of the mower blades, with an adjustable speed dial. The mowers are battery-operated, utilizing DEWALT 60V Max* lithium-ion battery packs. Key features include a single-touch handle for adjustment, a safety key for preventing accidental start-up, and an LED dashboard that displays important operational information. The mowers support mulching, side discharge, and grass collection bagging modes.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Battery Voltage: 60V Max* (nominal 54V). Maximum initial battery voltage (measured without a workload) is 60V. (120V Max* is based on using 2 DEWALT 60V Max* lithium-ion batteries combined, nominal 108V).
  • Battery Packs: Compatible with DCB606, DCB609, DCB609G, DCB612, DCB615.
  • Chargers: Compatible with DCB094, DCB102, DCB103, DCB104, DCB107, DCB112, DCB113, DCB115, DCB118, DCB132, DCB1102, DCB1104, DCB1106, DCB1112.
  • Blade Stop Time: Motor is braked, and blades stop rotating in three seconds or less.
  • Replacement Blades: DWO1DT234.
  • Blade Assembly Bolt Torque: 37–50 ft-lbs.
  • Blade Nut Torque: 13–20 ft-lbs.
  • Slope Operation: Recommended for slopes 15° or less.

Usage Features:

  • Handle Adjustment: The single-touch handle (1) can be raised to an operating position and adjusted for height (main handle 4) to accommodate different users. It also folds for storage.
  • Safety Key (6): A removable safety key disables the mower when removed, preventing accidental start-up.
  • LED Dashboard (12): Provides visual indicators for:
    • State of Charge (18): Displays current battery charge level (100%–85%, 70%–85%, 50%–70%, 25%–50%, <25%, low battery shutdown).
    • Cutting Load Meter (14): Indicates cutting load (white for low, yellow for medium, red for high).
    • Overheat Indicator (13): Illuminates amber/blinks when battery/motor is overloaded, or red/blinks when module reaches high temperature.
    • Handle Folding Indicator (15): Illuminates if the single-touch handle is not engaged in the operating position.
    • Blade Sharpening Indicator (16): Illuminates when blades need service.
  • Starting Procedure: Insert safety key (6), pull and hold bail handle (8) to main handle (4), then press power button (11) to start blades.
  • Self-Propelled System (DCMWSP650 only): Activated by pressing the self-drive lever (9) towards the main handle (4). Speed is adjusted using the speed adjustment dial (10), with rabbit (40) and turtle (41) icons indicating faster and slower speeds, respectively.
  • Mowing Modes:
    • Grass Collection Bag (22): Lift rear door cover (21), remove mulching plug (24), and place bag onto mower.
    • Mulching (24): Remove grass collection bag or rear side discharge chute (25), lift rear door cover (21), and slide mulching plug (24) into mower, ensuring pins (35) engage slots (36).
    • Side Discharge (25): Remove grass collection bag (22) or mulching plug (24), lift rear door cover (21), and hook rear side discharge chute (25) onto mower.
  • Cut Height Adjustment (20): Lever (20) allows adjustment of cutting height by pulling out of locking notch (37) and moving it towards the rear (raise) or front (lower) of the mower.
  • Overload Protection: The Electronic Protection System protects the battery pack against overloading, overheating, or deep discharge. The tool will automatically turn off if these conditions occur.
  • Slope Operation: Mow across the face of slopes, not up and down. Exercise caution on slopes 15° or less. Avoid wet grass and sudden changes in speed/direction.

Maintenance Features:

  • Blade Sharpening: Blades should be sharpened twice per mowing season, or more frequently if mowing sandy soil. Bent or damaged blades must be replaced immediately. Sharpen blades at the original cutting angle, removing equal amounts of material from both ends to maintain balance.
  • Blade Balancing: Check blade balance by placing the keyed mounting hole (55) over a nail or round screwdriver (59) clamped horizontally in a vise (34). File the sharp edge of the dropping end until balanced.
  • Cleaning: Blow dirt and dust out of air vents weekly. Clean non-metallic parts with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals. Clean clippings from the underside of the deck.
  • Corrosion Prevention: Clean the mower immediately after use if mowing in areas where fertilizers or chemicals have been used. Avoid storing the tool near fertilizers or chemicals.
  • Battery Pack Cleaning: Remove dirt and grease from the exterior of the battery pack with a soft non-metallic brush or cloth. Do not use water or cleaning solutions.
  • Storage: Store the mower indoors in a dry, locked-up place, out of reach of children. Remove the safety key and battery packs. The mower can be stored standing up (with collection bag removed) or flat on its wheels.
  • Fastener Tightness: Check all exposed fasteners for tightness after several uses.
  • Repairs: Repairs, maintenance, and adjustments should be performed by a DEWALT factory service center or authorized service center using identical replacement parts. Damaged battery packs should only be serviced by the manufacturer or authorized service providers.
