Why won't the motor run when I press the trigger on my DeWalt DCN695?

  If the motor of your DeWalt Nail Gun doesn't run when you depress the trigger, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the trigger lock isn't engaged. If the tool is stalled, rotate the stall release lever. If the driver blade doesn't return, remove the battery and manually push the driver blade back. For sequential actuation mode, depress the contact trip before firing, or switch to bump mode (DCN692 only). Try resetting the tool's electronics by removing the battery for 3 seconds and reinserting it. Note that the motor will stop running after 5 seconds, which is normal operation; release and redepress the trigger to continue.

  If your DeWalt Nail Gun operates but doesn't fully drive fasteners, first check the depth adjustment and set it to a deeper setting. Ensure the tool is firmly applied to the workpiece. If using bump mode with long nails (DCN692 only), switch to sequential mode. Consider the material and fastener length; if stalling occurs, use appropriate materials and fastener lengths. Remove the no-mar tip if it's attached. New tools may require 500–1000 nails to run-in. If driving longer ring shank nails in soft woods or into harder materials in speed 1, adjust the speed setting to position 2.

  If the drive blade of your DeWalt Nail Gun continues to get stuck in the down position, use the stall release lever and clear any jammed nails. Clean the nose area of any debris. Consider the material and fastener length; if stalling continues, choose a less rigorous application. New tools can take 500–1000 nails for parts to mesh and wear in together. If trying to drive longer ring shank nails in soft woods, or driving ring shank nails into harder materials in speed 1 - adjust speed setting to position 2.
