Mounting and Removing Surface
Finishing Shroud (Fig. D)

WARNING: When loosening the clamp screw, make
sure the screw remains attached to theshroud.
1. Follow the mounting and removing guard instructions
in tool manual to remove the guard fromgrinder.
2. Loosen the clamp adjusting screw

finishing shroud and align the tabs

finishing shroud with the slots

on the grinder
gearcase.
3. Rotate the shroud into the desired working position.
The surface finishing shroud should be positioned
between the spindle and the operator to provide
operatorprotection.

to ensure shroud
is secured to gearcase.
For optimal positioning, the diamond wheel should
ride above the brushes 1/8" (3.18mm). If diamond
wheel rides inside the shroud or stands taller than 1/4"
(6.35mm) the shroud will not workproperly.
NOTICE: If surface finishing shroud cannot be
tightened by the clamp adjusting screw, do not use
the tool and take the tool and surface finishing shroud
to a service center to repair or replace the surface
finishingshroud.
5. To remove the surface finishing shroud, loosen the
clamp adjusting screw, rotate the surface finishing
shroud to align the slots and tabs and pull up on the
surface finishingshroud.

Wheels (Fig. E)
Follow the mounting and using cutting wheels instructions
in the tool manual and mount the grinding wheel. DO NOT
use Type 1 cutting wheels or bonded abrasivewheels.

use with this shroud. The inner flange washer

should be
installed behind the wheel allowing tool free removal and
properfit.
