This document describes a Private Container with an Electronic Combination Lock, applicable to models B-23E2, JJB-23E2, JJB-23E 2-1, G1-950N, G1-951N, G1-952N, G1-953N, and B-23E2-1. It serves as a user's manual, providing instructions for initial setup, operation, programming, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Private Container is a secure storage unit equipped with an electronic combination lock for restricted access. Its primary function is to provide a secure location for valuables, accessible only to authorized users via a programmable digital code or an override key. The electronic lock system ensures that the container remains locked unless the correct code is entered or the physical override key is used.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Applicable Models: B-23E2, JJB-23E2, JJB-23E 2-1, G1-950N, G1-951N, G1-952N, G1-953N, B-23E2-1.
  • Power Source: 4 AA batteries.
  • User Code Length: 2-8 digits.
  • Factory Code: 1, 5, 9 (for initial use).
  • LED Indicators:
    • Green LED: Illuminates upon correct code entry, indicating the lock is ready to open.
    • Yellow LED: Illuminates during user code programming mode.
    • Red LED (flashing): Indicates low battery power.
  • Operation Timeout: If the interval between two button presses exceeds 20 seconds, the operation becomes invalid.

Usage Features

First Time Operation

  1. Opening: The container must first be opened using the override key. Instructions for using the override key are detailed in the "Using the Override Key" section.
  2. Battery Installation: After opening, locate the battery compartment inside the container. Install 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

Opening the Container (Regular Use)

  1. Code Entry: Enter the programmed user code.
  2. Confirmation: Press the "#" button.
  3. LED Indication: The green LED will illuminate, indicating successful code entry.
  4. Unlocking: Within 5 seconds of the green LED illuminating, turn the knob clockwise to open the door.
    • Note: For the very first operation, the factory code (1, 5, 9) must be used. It is strongly recommended to program a new user code immediately after the initial opening.

Closing the Container

  1. Close Door: Ensure the door of the Private Container is fully closed.
  2. Locking: Turn the knob counterclockwise to lock the door.

Programming Your User Code

  1. Access Programming Mode: With the door open, locate and press the red programming button on the back of the door inside the container. The yellow LED will illuminate, indicating that the container is in programming mode.
  2. Enter New Code: Enter your desired new user code (2-8 digits).
  3. Confirm Code: Press the "#" button to confirm the new code.
  4. Verification: It is crucial to verify the new user code by attempting to open the container with it several times before closing the door. This ensures the new code has been successfully programmed.
  5. Security: Once the new code is confirmed, the old code (including the factory code) becomes invalid. Users are advised to keep their new user code in a safe, memorable, and secure location, separate from the container itself.

Using the Override Key

The override key provides an alternative method to open the container, particularly useful if the electronic lock fails or the user code is forgotten.

  1. Access Keyhole: Remove the decorative cover on the front of the container to reveal the override keyhole.
  2. Insert Key: Insert the override key (Figure B) into the keyhole.
  3. Turn Key: Turn the override key clockwise.
  4. Turn Knob: Turn the main knob clockwise to open the door.
  5. Removal: After opening, remove the override key promptly.
    • Security Note: It is critical to store the override keys in a safe place, never inside the Private Container itself, to prevent unauthorized access.

Maintenance Features

Replacing the Batteries

  1. Low Battery Indication: A flashing red LED during operation signifies that the batteries are low and require replacement.
  2. Access Battery Compartment: Open the door of the Private Container. Locate and remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the door.
  3. Remove Old Batteries: Take out the depleted batteries.
  4. Install New Batteries: Insert new LR6 AA batteries, paying close attention to the correct polarity markings within the compartment.
  5. Replace Cover: Securely replace the battery compartment cover.
    • Recommendation: The manual specifically recommends using LR6 AA batteries and emphasizes the importance of correct polarity.

Bolting Down the Private Container

For enhanced security, the Private Container can be bolted to a fixed surface.

  1. Placement: Position the container in its desired installation location.
  2. Mark Holes: Mark the positions of the bolt-down holes, which are typically located on the back or underside of the container.
  3. Drill Holes: Drill holes into the mounting surface at the marked locations.
  4. Secure Container: Install and tighten the bolts and nuts through the container's holes and into the drilled holes, firmly securing the container.

This comprehensive guide ensures users can effectively operate, secure, and maintain their Private Container with the electronic combination lock.
