Overview

This document describes the Diesella DT2236E High-Precision Photo/Contact Dual-Use Tachometer, model number 15117465.

Function Description

The DT2236E is a versatile tachometer designed for both non-contact and contact speed measurements. It utilizes a microprocessor (MCU) chip, photoelectric technology, anti-interference technology, and a semiconductor laser for accurate readings. The device offers a wide measuring range and high resolution, making it suitable for various applications. Its large LCD display ensures clear readings without parallax.

A key feature is its data storage capability. The tachometer automatically stores the maximum (Up), minimum (Dn), and last (Last) measurement values. It can store approximately 500 measurement values, which is convenient for users to count and analyze data. These measurement data are automatically refreshed when the [Measurement key] is pressed.

The device is designed with user convenience in mind, featuring a streamlined ergonomic shape and a light, strong ABS plastic shell. It also includes an automatic shutdown function, turning off after five minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. A low battery indicator (a prompt symbol [+-] on the display) alerts the user when the battery voltage is too low.

Important Technical Specifications

Usage Features

Power On/Off: Press and hold the [Power Key] for 2 seconds to turn the meter on or off. Upon power-on, the screen displays "0," and the default mode is [Non-Contact Speed].

Mode Switching: Long press the [Switch Key] to cycle between [Non-Contact Speed], [Contact Speed], and [Contact Surface Speed]. In [Contact Speed] mode, the displayed characters automatically invert for correct viewing.

Measurement Operations:

  1. Non-Contact Speed Measurement (default mode):

    • Install batteries and power on.
    • Attach a piece of reflective tape (approximately 12 mm wide) to the object to be measured. If the shaft is reflective, paint or cover it with black tape before applying reflective tape.
    • Press the [Measuring Key] to emit a red light beam vertically onto the reflective tape. The measurement starts, and the value is displayed.
    • Release the [Measuring Key] once the displayed value is stable. The last value and multiple measurement data are automatically stored.
  2. Contact Speed Measurement:

    • Install the contact measurement accessories (rubber head).
    • Switch the meter mode to [Contact Speed].
    • Press the rubber head against the rotating shaft of the measured object, ensuring synchronous and coaxial rotation.
    • Press the [Measuring Key] to start measurement. Release it after the displayed value is stable.
  3. Contact Surface Speed Measurement:

    • Install the measuring surface speed wheel.
    • Switch the mode to [Contact Surface Speed].
    • Hold the surface speed wheel against the measured object, ensuring synchronous movement.
    • Press the [Measuring Key] to start measurement. Release it after the displayed value is stable. The meter automatically saves approximately 25 data points per minute during measurement.

Data Storage and Viewing: After measurement, the meter retains the last value. Short presses of the [Power Key] cycle through the stored data:

  • First press: Displays the maximum value (Up).
  • Second press: Displays the minimum value (Dn).
  • Third press: Displays the last value (Last).
  • Fourth press: Displays the total number of stored instantaneous values (e.g., "An 7" indicates 7 values).
  • Subsequent presses: Display instantaneous value index numbers (e.g., "1") followed by the corresponding value (e.g., "350.3 RPM"). This cycles through all stored values.

Data Clearing: Pressing the [Measurement Key] once clears all saved data to 0.

Precautions:

  • Ensure reflective tape is properly applied to a smooth, clean surface for non-contact measurements.
  • For low-speed non-contact measurements, applying several reflective tapes evenly can improve accuracy. Divide the displayed data by the number of tapes to get the actual value.
  • Contact speed accessories include large cone, small cone, and cylindrical types. Large conical and cylindrical rubber parts are suitable for low-speed measurements, while small cone rubber fittings are for high-speed measurements.

Maintenance Features

Battery Replacement:

  • The meter indicates low battery with a [+-] symbol on the display.
  • To replace batteries, open the battery back cover and remove the old batteries.
  • Replace with 3 x 1.5V AA batteries, observing polarity markings.
  • If the meter will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage.

General Care:

  • Keep the manual and purchase receipt in a safe, dry place for future reference.
  • Ensure the product is intact and undamaged upon unpacking. Contact Diesella A/S (+45 7633 8888) if any parts are missing or broken.
  • Do not aim the red light beam at eyes during non-contact measurement.
  • The device has an automatic shutdown function after five minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
