IN-WALL / IN-CEILING SPEAKERS

Bruksanvisningen ger dig tips om hur du gör en profes-

sionell installation. Vi ber dig läsa genom bruksanvis-

ningen innan du påbörjar installationsarbetet.

Du kan göra arbetet själv med hjälp av instruktionen om

du känner att du har kunskap och rätt verktyg. Känner du

dig det minsta osäker bör du dock lämna över jobbet till

en fackman.

INSTALLATIONSRÅD /PLACERING I TAK / VÄGG

Kontrollera först så att det är möjligt att montera högta-

larna där du tänkt dig. Det kan finnas reglar, elledningar

eller vattenrör som gör att du måste ändra placeringen.

Använd en metall- eller el-detektor för att upptäcka dolda

rör och elledningar.

Högtalarna är gjorda för att kunna monteras och fungera

i innertak och väggar av varierande storlek. Ett för litet,

eller för stort utrymme bakom högtalaren påverkar dock

högtalarens basåtergivning. En idealisk volym för en

6,5” (16 cm) högtalare är 15-20 liter, och för en 8” (20

cm) högtalare 20-30 liter.

Det kan ofta vara nödvändigt att dämpa utrymmet i vägg

eller tak med något dämpmaterial, vanlig isolering av mi-

neralull är lämpligt ur brandsynpunkt. Det är dock viktigt

att monteringen görs på ett sådant sätt att

dämpmaterialet inte faller ner i högtalaren, speciellt gäl-

ler detta vid takmontering.

PLACERING I RUMMET

Undvik att placera takmonterade högtalare närmare än

50 cm från vägg eller hörn, en sådan placering kan ge

en onaturlig förstärkning av basljudet.

Väggmonterade högtalare bör placeras något över öron-

höjd. Avståndet mellan högtalarna beror på rummets

storlek och avståndet till lyssnaren. Generellt kan man

säga att högtalare inte skall placeras närmare lyssnaren

än 1,5 meter, och att avståndet mellan dom inte ska

överstiga avståndet till lyssnaren. Är de monterade för

långt isär blir det ett ”hål” i ljudbilden, och sitter de för tätt

ihop tappar du djupet i ljudet.

I hemmabioinstallationer bör de inte placeras närmare

varandra än skärmens bredd, och höjden bör vara i cen-

trum på skärmen.

Användning som surroundhögtalare:

En surroundhögtalare bör placeras bakom, och ca 0,6

meter över lyssnaren. Takmontering ger ofta ett bra re-

sultat.

Kablar:

Använd kablar av hög kvalitet. DLS SC 2 x 1,5 eller 2 x

2,5 är bra allroundkablar för alla typer av högtalare. De

finns i vit eller svart färg.

Se till så att kablarna inte kommer i kläm någonstans, de

kan då kortslutas och orsaka dyra reparationer av din

förstärkare. Se till att förstärkaren är avstängd medan du

jobbar med kabeldragningen. Koppla på förstärkaren

först när kablarna är inkopplade. Kopplar du mer än en

högtalare i serie eller parallellt, så se till att den resulte-

rande impedansen överensstämmer med förstärkarens

specifikationer.

This manual will show you how to do a correct installa-

tion. Please read the entire manual before beginning.

Install the speakers yourself if you feel confident with our

instructions and if you have the proper tools. If you feel

unsure, turn over the installation job to someone better

suited to it.

INSTALLATION, POSITIONING IN ROOF OR WALL

Before making any holes, check for other installations

behind the panels like girders, water pipes or electric

cables. Use a pipe or cable detector to find out their

location.

The speakers are made for flush mounting in walls or

ceilings with varying cavity sizes. Too small or too large

air volumes behind the speakers can affect the bass

reproduction, it can be too much or to less bass. The

ideal volume for a 6,5” (16 cm) speaker is 15-20 litres,

and 20-30 litres for an 8” (20 cm) speaker.

It might be a good idea to fill the cavity behind the spea-

ker with wadding. Fibreglass or mineral wool matting for

heat insulation are suitable. Just make sure that the

damping material don´t fall into the speaker, especially in

roof mount installations. Check that the damping mate-

rial meet the local fire and building regulations.

PLACING IN THE ROOM

Avoid placing roof mounted speakers closer to a wall or

corner than 50 cm (20”). This can cause an unnatural

amplification in the bass region.

Wall mounted speakers should be installed a little higher

than the ears of the listener. The distance between the

speakers depends on the size of the room and the

distance to the listener. In general, the speakers should

not be closer to the listener than 1,5 meters (5 ft), and

the distance between the speakers should not exceed

the distance to the listener. If they are placed too far

apart there will be a ”hole” in the midrange, and if they

are to close together you will loose the ”depth” in the

sound image.

For Home theatre installations the speakers should not

be placed closer to each other than the width of the

screen, and the height around the centre of the screen.

For use as surround speakers:

A surround speaker should be placed behind, and

approx. 0,6 meters (2 ft) above the listener. A roof mount

often gives a good sound result.

Wiring:

Use high quality speaker cables. DLS SC 2 x 1,5 or 2 x

2,5 are good all-round cables. They come in both black

and white colour.

Make sure the cables don´t get jammed causing a short

circuit as this can damage the output circuits of your

amplifier.

Make sure the amplifier is OFF when you connect the

cables. If you connect more than one speaker in series

or parallel, make sure the resulting impedance is in

accordance with your amplifier specifications.

Cable Quality and Type

Use high quality DLS SC 2x1.5 or 2x2.5 cables for best results; available in black/white.

Cable Connection Safety

Ensure cables aren't jammed to prevent shorts. Turn amplifier OFF before connecting; check impedance for series/parallel.

Fitting the Wall Frame

Cutting Mounting Hole

Use the provided template to cut the hole for the speaker frame according to specified thickness.

Grille Removal and Cable Connection

Remove grille by pushing rear wings. Connect cables to terminals (+ to red, - to black).

Securing the Frame

Insert frame into hole, turn screws clockwise to swing out wings. Do not overtighten to avoid deformation.

Tweeter Level Adjustment

Use the switch on the front grille to adjust tweeter level; choose LOW if unsure.

Important Warnings and Service

Magnetic Shielding Warning

These speakers are not magnetic shielded; avoid placing near CRT TVs/computers (within 0.5m/20").

Running-In Period

Allow speakers to play for at least 20 hours for optimal performance.

Warranty Service Information

Two-year warranty against material/factory defects. Include dated receipt for service claims.
