(3) Splatter painted luggage compartments: Should
be repainted if scratched, soiled and dirty. A like new
appearance may be quickly and easily accomplished
using Chrysler Parts Splatter Paint (Gray/White No.
2585-330 or Brown/White No. 2585-331), or equiva-
lent.
Splatter paint may be applied with either the small
pint spray gun or the quart size. A slight difference in
pattern is obtained with the small gun, perhaps best
described as less pattern. This material should be re-
duced, if necessary with water. However, the normal
consistency of the paint is considerably thicker and
reduction should be held to a minimum. A water ef-
fect in the low areas, and excessive running of the
material are signs of too much reduction. Use 35-45
pounds of air pressure for spraying. Mask exposed
areas at top of rear fenders and rear end panels, if
spraying with large gun.
For gun cleaning after using splatter paint, first
water, followed by lacquer thinner is recommended.
Tools
and Spare
Tires
Clean tools and spare tire with Multi-Purpose
Cleaner or equivalent. Rusted areas on tools should be
sanded or cleaned with steel wool. Repaint tools and
redress spare tire with Chrysler Parts Black Multi-
purpose Dye and Dressing, No. 2298-525, or equiva-
lent. Replace tools and equipment in trunk when
everything has dried thoroughly.
Clean around the deck lid opening using a cloth
saturated with overspray remover and for final detail,
redress the rubber deck lid seal using Black Multi-
Purpose Dye and Dressing, or equivalent.
Tires
Do not clean tires with scouring powder, steel wool
or other abrasive type cleaners. Clean white sidewall
tire with a stiff bristle brush and white sidewall
cleaner, or multi-purpose cleaner 2298-532 or equiva-
lent and rinse with clear water. Scuff marks can be
dressed down by sanding lightly with #400 sandpaper.
Glass
Do not use putty knifes, razor blades, steel wool, or
other metal objects to remove deposits from glass.
Interior glass surfaces should be thoroughly
cleaned weekly to remove all traces of smoke and
other films.
Exterior glass surfaces are best cleaned with the
use of a commercially made cleaner. Do not scrape
off smears from bugs, road tars or other similar
objects, use warm water or the recommended sol-
vents to remove.
During the winter months, snow, ice and frost can
be removed with a plastic or rubber type scraper, or
with a commercially made solvent. Do not use metal
objects to remove deposits from glass.
Drain Holes
The drain holes, in the bottom of cowl plenum
chamber, doors and floor sills (rocker panels)
should be inspected regularly to insure unobstructed
drainage. Remove road tars, mud and other foreign
matter immediately. Should bare metal be exposed,
surface treat metal and refinish.
The drain holes in the quarter panel well areas are
sealed with a removable plastic plug. The plugs
should only be removed whenever it is necessary to
clean or drain fluids from the well area.
Lubrication
To maintain ease of operation, the hood, door, deck
lid and tailgate hinges should be lubricated with the
recommended lubricants at the recommended inter-
vals.
Refer to the Body Lubrication Unit for type of
lubricant and lubrication points.
USEFUL GENERAL HINTS
(1) Upholstery in good condition, not faded, but
stained. If stain persists after using Spot Remover,
blow the stains with maximum air pressure.
(2) Chewing gum on fabric. Place cube of ice on
chewing gum and freeze. Chip off with a blunt tool.
(3) Ice may be used to remove bloodstains if noth-
ing else has been applied, or carefully brush spot with
a fine wire brush.
(4) Do not soak around seat buttons any more than
is necessary. Always fast dry cushions with buttons to
avoid possibility of rust.
(5) When washing headliner with Upholstery Clean-
er solution, cover seats with cloth, plastic cloth, etc.,
to prevent spotting by dropping solutions from head-
liner while cleaning. Once the cleaning process is
started, FINISH WITHOUT INTERRUPTION. If head-
liner is partially done and completed later, a stain may
appear where first section has dried.
