MAINTENANCE
AND
CARE
are badly soiled
or
faded should first
be
washed with
Multi-Purpose Cleaner
or
equivalent. Repair
if
neces-
sary.
After
the
material
is
washed
and
dried, mask
off
other colored areas except
the one to be
dyed. Soak
a lint-free cloth
in
lacquer-thinner
and
wipe
it
over
the areas. This removes surface film
and
waxes
and
prepares
the
material
for
dyeing.
As
soon
as the ma-
terial feels "tacky,"
it is
ready
to
spray.
Adjust
the
small spray
gun to
about
25 to 30 lbs.
pressure. Spray
one
section
at a
time with LEATHER
AND VINYL
DYE.
Apply
one
thin coat first
and
allow
to
dry.
Spray
a
second coat
by
cross-spraying
the
first.
Allow
to dry and
remove masking tape.
When working
on a
two-color
job, be
sure
to
allow
the first coat
to dry,
preferably overnight, before
masking over
the
newly sprayed area.
Headliner Restoration
Fabric
or
natural cloth headlining that
is
dirty,
but
not deeply stained,
may be
restored
by
thoroughly
shampooing according
to the
following directions:
(1)
Mix a
soap flake solution such
as
Ivory Flakes
or equivalent
in
warm water
and
work
up to a
very
rich suds.
(2) Cover
the
seats with water repellent material
to prevent spotting caused
by
Cleaner dropping from
the headliner while cleaning.
(3) Sponge suds
on the
headliner. Start
at the
left
rear corner
and
clean
one
section
at a
time. Work
the
suds into
the
fabric with
a
circular
or
back
and
forth
motion.
(4) When section looks clean, finish
off
with
the
sponge
by
laying
the nap in one
direction. (Otherwise
after drying, some sections
of
headliner will look
darker
or
lighter than others). Begin washing next
section
of
headliner
by
overlapping approximately
three inches
of
washed area
to
avoid possible streak-
ing.
(5) Wash
the sun
visors
in the
same manner
as the
headliner.
(6) Once
the
cleaning process
is
started, continue
until
the
entire headliner
is
completed. Otherwise
stains
may
appear where
the
first section washed,
has
dried.
Carpet Restoration
Vacuum carpeting thoroughly, paying particular
at-
tention
to
under seat (front
and
rear) areas.
If carpets
are
slightly soiled first remove spots with
Overspray Remover
and
then shampoo with Chrysler
Parts Upholstery Cleaner, No. 1316-182
or
equivalent.
Mix shampoo

if re-
quired.
Apply Cleaner solution with
a
natural sponge
and
agitate suds with
a
scrub brush.
Rubber
and Vinyl Mat Restoration
Shampoo thoroughly using Multi¯Purpose Cleaner,
as required.
Package Shelf Restoration
More frequently than
not the
package shelf
pre-
sents
a
dusty, soiled
or
shabby appearance
and
must
be reconditioned.
It is
best
and
usually easier
to re-
move
the
fiber-board type package shelves from
the
car
for
repainting. Wipe down
the
material first with
a cloth saturated with lacquer thinner. Respray, using
Leather
and
Vinyl
Dye
mixed
to
match
the
color.
Al-
low
to dry and
reinstall
in the car.
STATION WAGONS
Station wagons
are
also reconditioned
in the
same
manner
as
other cars except
for the
cargo area.
Fre-
quently this area receives considerable abuse
and
usually needs special treatment.
Cargo decks that
are
soiled
but not
scuffed
and
worn should first
be
thoroughly cleaned with Multi-
purpose Cleaner,
No.
2298-532
or
equivalent, after
vacuuming.
If the
area then looks acceptable, spraying
with Chrysler Parts Reviv-A-Color,
No.
2421-097
or
equivalent, will bring back
the
new look.

are
soiled, scuffed
and
worn also
should

it is
thoroughly
dry,

the
area
as
required
and
wipe
it
down with lacquer thinner.
Mix
Leather
and
Vinyl Dye
to
match
the
existing color
and
spray with
the
small
gun.
After
it is
thoroughly
dry,
spray
the
area with Reviv-A-Color,
No.
2421-097
or
equivalent, remove masking
and
clean
up
overspray.

and
tools,
set
them aside
and

the

oughly. Shampoo luggage compartment completely
with Chrysler Parts Multi-Purpose Cleaner,
No.
2298-
532,
or
equivalent.

are
several conditions which
may be
encoun-
tered

to its
origi-
nal design. Treatment
of
each

described below.
