CONVERSION-ENGLISH AND METRIC MEASURES
CUBIC INCHES AND CUBIC CENTIMETERS: To
simplify comparison of engine sizes between cubic
inches and cubic centimeters or liters, follow the
formulas shown in this section.
CUBIC CENTIMETERS TO INCHES: When chang-
ing cubic centimeter to cubic inches, multiply cubic
centimeters times .061 to obtain cubic inches, (C. C.
× .061 = Cubic Inch).
CUBIC INCHES TO CENTIMETERS: When chang¯
ing cubic inches to cubic centimeters, multiply cubic
inches times 16.39 to obtain cubic centimeters, (Cubic
Inch × 16.39 = C. C).
LITERS TO CUBIC INCHES: When changing liters
to cubic inches, multiply liters times 61.02 to obtain
cubic inches, (Liters × 61.02 = Cubic Inch).
CUBIC INCHES TO LITERS: When changing cubic

HEAD MARKINGS—Head marking identification
shall consist of radial lines on the top of the bolt
head equally spaced, extending toward the outer
edges of the circle (Fig. 12). Each line should not
extend more than one-third of the circle diameter.
The identification shall be easily legible and distinct
from manufacturer's trade mark, but need not be in
any particular relation to the hexagon. The manu-
facturer's trade mark shall be legible, in the center of
the bolt head, and not cover more than one-third of
the bolt circle.

ing centimeters to liters divide by 1,000 simply by
moving the decimal point three figures to the left.
LITERS TO CENTIMETERS: When changing liters
to cubic centimeters, move the decimal point three
figures to the right.
MILES TO KILOMETERS: When changing miles to
kilometers, multiply miles times 1.609 to obtain ki-
lometers, (Miles × 1.609 = Kilometers).
KILOMETERS TO MILES: When changing kilom-
eters to miles, multply kilometers times 0.6214 to
obtain miles, (Kilometers X 0.6214 = Miles).
POUNDS TO KILOGRAMS: 1 lb. = .4536 Kg.
KILOGRAMS TO POUNDS: 1 Kg. = 2.2046 lbs.
