What to do if film sound is lost on my Dolby Laboratories Processor?
    • K
      Kimberly SmithJul 31, 2025
If you experience a loss of film sound, take these steps: * Check that the correct format button is illuminated on the CP650 front panel and that the correct projector (P1 or P2) is selected. * Verify that the lamp or LED in both the analog and digital film readers are on. * Make sure the mute button isn't flashing, and the fader display reads 4.04.04.04.0 or higher. * Try switching the CP650 to bypass mode using the front-panel power button. If sound isn't restored, press the front-panel power button again. After the CP650 self-test, press the NS button and play intermission music. Double-check both projectors and, if possible, switch to the other projector to continue the show.

What to do if one channel fails or is distorted on my Dolby Laboratories Processor?
    • B
      Brian WashingtonAug 6, 2025
If a single channel is failing or exhibiting distortion, try switching the CP650 to bypass mode using the front-panel power switch. If the problem persists in the same channel, it's likely an issue with the power amplifier or speaker for that channel. If you're playing a mono film and the center channel is failing or distorted, also switch the CP650 to bypass mode.

What to do if I hear extraneous noises when playing a digital film on my Dolby Laboratories Processor?
    • M
      monica75Aug 12, 2025
If you're encountering extraneous noises while playing a digital film, try pressing the Format 05 button on the front panel to play the film in analog Dolby SR format. If the noises continue, switch the CP650 to bypass mode using the front-panel power button. Also, check the power amplifiers, as it's unlikely both the digital and analog parts of the system have failed simultaneously.

What to do if switching to bypass does not restore sound on my Dolby Laboratories Processor?
    • G
      Gregory FordAug 18, 2025
If switching to bypass doesn't restore sound, check the film reader LEDs or exciter lamps, the fader setting, and the mute button. If the bypass power seems functional (the front panel power button glows red), open the front panel access door and see if the signal present lights are flashing. If the issue still persists, the Cat. No. 772 circuit board may be faulty, and you should contact your service engineer.

Why is there excessive or inappropriate sound coming from the surround speakers on my Dolby Laboratories Processor?
    • J
      jason80Aug 25, 2025
If you're experiencing excessive or inappropriate sound from the surround speakers, as an immediate solution to continue the show, switch off the surround channel power amplifier(s). At your earliest convenience, contact your service engineer to determine if the issue stems from the film itself or the theatre's sound system.
