The Dometic RH 131 and RH 141 are compact refrigeration units designed for the storage of food and drinks. These appliances utilize an electrically heated absorption cooling unit, which operates virtually silently, making them suitable for various environments where noise reduction is desired. The refrigeration process involves the appliance giving off heat from the condenser into the surrounding air, with effective cooling being directly related to proper ventilation. The units are equipped with a thermostat knob for temperature regulation, allowing users to adjust the internal temperature to suit their needs. Additionally, some models may include a door lock for added security and a lightbulb for interior illumination. The appliance is designed for free-standing installation but can also be built-in, provided specific installation conditions are met to ensure optimal performance.
To begin using the appliance, it must be connected to a socket outlet and switched on. The cooling fins should show signs of cooling within approximately three hours, with the storage compartment reaching its optimal temperature of 6 °C after about six hours at normal ambient temperature. The thermostat knob allows for temperature adjustment, typically set between positions 2 and 3, though this can vary based on load and installation conditions. Turning the knob to a higher symbol results in a lower temperature, and vice versa. The effect of any adjustment can be verified with a thermometer after a few hours.
The appliance also features an ice cube making function. Users can fill the ice tray to 4/5 with drinking water and place it on the ice-tray shelf. If the lightbulb (if available) needs changing, the appliance must first be unplugged. The metal reflector should be pressed to one side, and the lamp covering drawn backward. After replacing the bulb with a new 10-watt bulb (obtainable from a service shop), the covering should be pushed back into place.
The door hang can be reversed if needed. This process involves laying the appliance on its back, removing screws and hinges, repositioning cover caps, and then reattaching the door with the hinges in the desired orientation. After reassembly, it is important to check that the door closes easily and seals properly.
The decorative door panel can also be replaced. This involves removing screws from the upper hinge, pulling the door and hinge away from the housing, removing the frame edge, sliding out the old panel, and inserting a new one. The new panel's upper edge should run parallel to the frame's upper edge, and cutting off the corners by approximately 5x5mm can facilitate insertion. The frame edge is then reattached, and the door is placed back on the lower hinge, with the upper hinge slotted into its opening and secured with screws.
For any issues, users are advised to perform simple tests before contacting customer service, such as checking for power failure, fuses, plug connection, socket functionality, thermostat setting, proper door closure, and ventilation obstruction. If problems persist, the nearest service engineer should be contacted, providing the model, product, and serial numbers found on the data plate inside the refrigerator. The appliance is equipped with overheating protection, and an authorized service technician can check if this has been triggered.
The appliance is designed to be operated by adults, and children should not be allowed to tamper with controls or play with the product.
