  If your Doughboy Swimming Pool Pump motor isn't starting, first ensure the pump is properly plugged into a grounded 115V electrical outlet that isn't overloaded. Check the electrical outlet for loose connections, open switches or relays, or blown fuses. Low voltage due to an extension cord could also be the issue; consider having a qualified electrician install a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) for direct electrical access.

A too long or light extension cord can cause this; consider having an electrician install a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) or use a heavier gauge extension cord. Blocked air vents on the pump housing can also cause overheating; elevate the pump 2-3 inches above the foundation as instructed. A bind in the motor or a faulty thermal protector could also be the problem; in these cases, locate and remove the bind or replace the motor.
