Overview

The Dr. Brown's Insta-Feed™ Bottle Warmer, Model Number AC184, is designed to quickly and safely warm baby bottles and food jars using distilled water. This appliance is intended for domestic and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas, farms, hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast environments. It is crucial to use distilled water only, as tap water and bottled water contain minerals that can shorten the life of the unit and void the warranty.

Function Description:

The Insta-Feed™ Bottle Warmer operates by heating distilled water in a warming chamber to create steam, which then warms the bottle or food jar. The device features a power button and an indicator light to signal the start and end of the warming cycle. It is designed to be user-friendly, with a measuring cup to ensure the correct amount of water is added for optimal warming. The warmer can accommodate both wide-neck and narrow-neck bottles, with an adapter ring provided for narrow-neck bottles to ensure they are centered over the heating plate for even warming. For food jars, a lift-out basket is used to place the jar into the warming chamber. The appliance also has a sterilizing function for small parts like nipples, pacifiers, and soothers.

Usage Features:

To warm a bottle or food jar, first, remove the measuring cup from the rear of the warmer. Fill the measuring cup with distilled water according to the warming guide provided in the manual, which offers approximate amounts based on bottle type, volume, and starting temperature (room temperature or refrigerator). Pour the distilled water directly into the warming chamber, being careful not to overfill. Replace the measuring cup and plug in the power cord. If warming a wide-neck bottle, place it directly into the warming chamber. For narrow-neck bottles, place the adapter ring on top of the warming chamber, then place the bottle inside. When warming Dr. Brown's® bottles, it is recommended to remove the internal parts, collar, and nipple/teat, and replace them with the included storage cap to prevent leakage. For food jars, place the jar into the lift-out basket, then place the basket into the warming chamber. Always remove the lid of the food jar prior to warming. Press the power button to start the warming cycle; the indicator light will turn on. Once the indicator light turns off, the warming cycle is complete. Promptly remove the bottle/food jar to avoid overheating. Before feeding, always test the temperature of the contents by pouring a few drops on the back of your hand. Adjust the amount of water added in subsequent uses if the contents are too cold (add slightly more water) or too warm (use slightly less water). After each use, allow the warmer to cool for at least 10 minutes before using it again.

For sterilizing small parts, add 2 oz / 60 ml of distilled water directly into the warming chamber. Place the small parts (nipples/teats, pacifiers/soothers) into the lift-out basket, then place the basket into the warming chamber. Place the adapter ring on top of the warming chamber, followed by the sterilizing lid. Plug in the power cord and press the power button. The indicator light will turn on, signaling the start of the sterilizing cycle. Once the indicator light turns off, the cycle is done. Allow the unit to cool for at least 10 minutes before removing the sterilizing lid, adapter ring, and lift-out basket. Exercise caution when removing hot parts and be aware of residual steam.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and de-scaling are essential to maintain the performance and longevity of the Insta-Feed™ Bottle Warmer. Always turn off, unplug, and allow the unit to cool before cleaning. The bottle warmer unit's outer surface and the inside of the warming chamber can be wiped with a damp cloth or sponge using mild liquid soap, then wiped with clean water and allowed to air dry. Never immerse the unit in water. The lift-out basket, adapter ring, sterilizing lid, and measuring cup are dishwasher safe (top rack only) or can be washed with soapy water, rinsed with clean water, and allowed to air dry.

De-scaling is recommended every four weeks to ensure proper functioning. To de-scale, unplug the appliance. Mix 2 oz / 60 ml of white vinegar with 4 oz / 120 ml of distilled water. Do not use bleach. Pour this mixture directly into the warming chamber and let it stand until any mineral deposits dissolve. Discard the cleaning mixture and rinse the warming chamber with clean water. Wipe the warming chamber dry with a cloth or allow it to air dry. It is important not to use bleach, harsh abrasives, or solvents to clean the warming chamber or heating elements, as these can cause permanent damage and void the warranty.

Safety Precautions:

The appliance has a polarized plug; if it does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, consult a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug or use an extension cord. Always unplug the cord from the wall outlet before servicing and keep it out of children's reach. The heating element surface retains residual heat after use, and the sterilizing lid and adapter ring can get hot during use, so handle with care. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children, and it should be kept out of their reach. Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or if it malfunctions or has been damaged. Return it to an authorized service facility for examination or repair. Misuse of the product may cause injury. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by Handi-Craft™ Company may cause injuries. The warmer is for indoor use only. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven. Exercise extreme caution when moving an appliance containing hot liquids. Never immerse the warmer or power cord in water. Be careful to avoid spilling or splashing hot water on yourself when removing contents. Always ensure food is at a safe temperature before serving. Warming food for long periods is not recommended, and food should not be heated for too long. Do not use this warmer for frozen milk or food; always thaw frozen milk or food overnight in the refrigerator first before warming.
