Using Mandrel 401:
Screw accessory on to the mandrel fi rmly.
The accessories that should be used with this mandrel are: 414 / 422 / 429 / 425
Using Mandrel 402*:
Loosen screw.
Replace accessory.
Tighten screw. Do not overtighten.
The accessories should be used with this mandrel are:
541 / 456 / 426 / 540 / 420 / 409 / 411 / 412 / 413
Changing the sanding band of a sanding drum*:
Loosen screw.
Pull old band off the rubber brushing.
Replace with new band.
Tighten screw.
Accessories: 407 / 430 / 439
Using Multi Chuck:
The Dremel Multi Chuck uses a similar system to a conventional drill and dismisses the use
of any collet. It is compatible with accessories with a 0.4 mm to 3.4 mm shank diameter, and it
can be loosened and tightened by using your hands.
Using collets:
Dremel accessories have different shank sizes, depending on the accessory you might need
to use a different collet. The collet sizes available are 3.2 mm / 2.4 mm / 1.6 mm / 0.8 mm.
Your multitool comes with a 3.2 mm collet.
* Hint: For loosening and tightening screws
use bottom of the wrench
Tool gripping:
One-handed grip: Overhand grip on the tool with fi ngers
curved over the top of the tool and the thumb underneath.
Tennis style underhand grip. Useful for drilling horizontally.
Two-handed grips give extra stability. An underhand-over-
hand combination gives fi rm support. This grip is particularly
useful for grinding, sanding and polishing.
Pencil grip is used mainly for engraving; polishing detailed
applications.
