to make the connection for you when you are directly connecting the
DroboPro to your computer. If you want or need to assign a specific IP
address for your iSCSI connection, use the manual setting. (You can use
the FireWire, USB or iSCSI connection to set the IP address.) In the
Advanced Controls > Tools tab, click “Settings”. Then click the iSCSI tab
in the Settings window and “Manually assign an IP Address.”
Note: If you are connecting multiple DroboPros to one computer, manual
configuration is required.
Volume Management is intended for customers who need to create
unique volumes on DroboPro. Otherwise, we recommend that you let
DroboPro manage volumes for you. You can set up multiple volumes
during the initial setup of your DroboPro or anytime thereafter.
You can use Volume Management to create and manage multiple
volumes on your DroboPro, each with its own size and supported file
format. After setting up multiple volumes, each will show up uniquely,
rather than as a single DroboPro volume.
Note: In Windows, volumes are sometimes referred to as logical drives or
partitions. On a Mac, volumes are simply volumes.
To access Volume Management, go to the Advanced Controls > Tools
tab of Drobo Dashboard. You can create up to 16 volumes on your
DroboPro. The maximum size of each volume is determined by the
operating system and file system format you choose. See page 24 for
further detail. This gives you great flexibility in adapting your DroboPro
to your unique environment.
Note: To use the Volume Management function, you will need Drobo
Dashboard 1.5.0 or later and firmware 1.1.0 or later on your DroboPro. Use the
Check For Updates button in the Advanced Controls > Tools window. Please
check www.drobo.com/support for further information.
When you click the Volume Management button, you can manage your
volumes: create, delete, rename and set the size of your volumes. After
you set up multiple volumes, the main page in Drobo Dashboard will list
all valid volumes.
