If you are not going to be using your DroboPro for an extended period
of time or want to move it to another computer, then it is a good idea
to shut it down. Make sure that no applications on your computer are
using the Drobo by checking the activity light. If applications are using
your DroboPro, they may prevent it from properly disconnecting.
You can do any of the following:
a) Open Drobo Dashboard and click the “Advanced Controls”
button. Select the “Tools” tab and click the “Shutdown” button;
or
b) Press the power button in the rear of the DroboPro. You will
know it’s safe to unplug the DroboPro when the light next to
the power button stops flashing (this could take up to two
minutes). You should stop all data transfers and unmount the
DroboPro volumes from your computer before pressing the
power button; or
c) On a PC only, select your DroboPro from the “Safely Remove
Hardware” menu. When the Power Light turns yellow, you can
safely press the rear power button.
If you are concerned about saving power, you don’t need to worry
about turning off your DroboPro when you are not using it. DroboPro
automatically goes into a power saving (standby) mode when it has not
been accessed for 15 minutes (spins down the hard drives) or when you
turn off your computer (enters standby mode and the power light turns
yellow). If you don’t want DroboPro to spin down your drives after 15
minutes, then you can turn this feature off in the Advanced Controls >
Tools tab. See “Disk drive spin down” on page 31.
