Overview

This document describes a chocolate fountain, a device designed to allow melted chocolate to flow over several tiers, creating an attractive centerpiece for parties and events. Users can dip fruits, biscuits, ice cream, and other items into the flowing chocolate.

Function Description:

The chocolate fountain operates by melting chocolate and then using a transport screw to move it upwards, allowing it to cascade down multiple tiers. It is intended for private use in dry indoor environments and is not suitable for commercial applications. The device can be powered either by eight AA alkaline batteries or by the included AC/DC adapter. For optimal performance, AC adapter operation is recommended.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model No.: PMX-2728
  • AC Adapter:
    • Input: 100 – 240V~ 50Hz
    • Output: 12V DC
  • Alkaline Batteries: Eight 1.5V "AA" alkaline batteries (not included)
  • Maximum Output: 15W
  • Chocolate Capacity: Designed for approximately 600g of chocolate; a minimum of 350g is recommended for proper flow, with 600g being optimal.

Usage Features:

  • Setup:
    1. Remove the device from its packaging and dispose of the packaging material responsibly.
    2. Clean the device before first use as described in the "Cleaning" section.
    3. Place the transport screw into the intake.
    4. Place the fountain attachment with its plastic fixture onto the pegs in the pouring tray.
    5. Place the device on a stable and even surface. It is crucial that the device stands horizontally, otherwise the chocolate will not flow properly.
  • Powering the Device:
    • Battery Operation: Unscrew the battery compartment, insert eight AA alkaline batteries (not included), and securely close the compartment.
    • AC Adapter Operation: Insert the AC adapter into the DC connector port (5) and the other end into a mains socket. Ensure the socket is properly installed and matches the technical specifications of the device.
  • Operation:
    1. Press the "ON" button on the front to start the motor; the LED will light up blue.
    2. Press the "OFF" button to stop the motor, or if the battery is low, or the chocolate is not flowing.
  • Preparing Chocolate:
    • For the chocolate to flow well, it must first be melted and mixed with a small amount of flavorless vegetable oil.
    • Melting Methods:
      • Water Bath: Fill a pot with water and heat it (do not boil). Place a smaller pot with broken chocolate inside the larger pot. Stir frequently to prevent burning. Remove when fully melted.
      • Microwave: Place broken chocolate in a microwave-safe dish. Melt on the lowest setting, stirring every 60 seconds until fully melted.
      • In the Fountain: Chocolate can also be melted directly in the fountain's pouring tray, but this process is significantly slower.
    • Mixing with Oil: Use flavorless vegetable oil. The correct consistency is crucial: if the chocolate is too thick or too runny, the transport screw will not be able to move it. The chocolate should flow easily from a spoon.
    • Chocolate Type: Only use couverture chocolate. Do not use chocolate containing nuts, almonds, raisins, or other solid ingredients, as these can cause blockages in the auger. Ordinary chocolate may not contain enough cocoa butter to flow properly.
  • Dipping: Dip fruits, marshmallows, biscuits, ice cubes, etc., into the flowing chocolate. For a richer flavor, add liqueur to the chocolate before pouring it into the bowl.
  • Switching Off:
    1. Turn the switch to "OFF."
    2. Remove the plug from the socket and allow the components of the device to cool down.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Important: Never immerse the bowl and motor in water. Do not use solvents or aggressive cleaning materials.
    • Immediate Cleaning: Always clean the device immediately after use.
    1. Remove the plug from the socket and allow the device to cool completely.
    2. Pour any surplus chocolate into a plastic pouch or disposable container. Do not pour chocolate down the sink or toilet.
    3. Take each part of the device and wipe it with a damp cloth, using a mild detergent if necessary. Allow to dry thoroughly.
    4. Wipe out the bowl with a damp sponge to remove any remaining chocolate.
    5. Wipe the case of the device with a slightly damp cloth only.
    • The device is not suitable for dishwashers.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Chocolate drips but does not flow:
      • Possible Cause: Chocolate is too thick or too runny.
      • Remedy: Add vegetable oil to make it thinner or more melted chocolate to make it thicker.
      • Possible Cause: Device is not standing in a horizontal position.
      • Remedy: Place the device on an even surface. Small height differences can be compensated for using adjustable feet.
      • Possible Cause: Couverture chocolate was not used.
      • Remedy: Use couverture chocolate rather than ordinary chocolate; the higher proportion of cocoa butter means the chocolate will melt and flow better.
      • Possible Cause: There may be bits of food, such as fruit, in the bowl.
      • Remedy: Remove them.
  • Disposal:
    • The packaging material is recyclable. Dispose of packaging in an environmentally friendly manner using a recycling center.
    • The device itself belongs in a recycling center for electrical and electronic waste. Batteries and other storage batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. Consumers are obliged to return batteries and defective batteries to public collection points. Information can be obtained from local authorities. Dispose of batteries and other storage batteries only when they are completely empty.

Safety Instructions:

  • General: Read the operating instructions carefully before first use and keep them in a safe place. Pass the instructions along with the device if it is given to another user.
  • Children and Persons: Keep packaging film away from children (choking hazard). Keep children away from the device and do not leave them unsupervised. Do not allow children to play with the device. Do not insert fingers or other body parts into moving parts.
  • Cables: Lay the cable so it does not become a tripping hazard. Do not crush or kink the cable, and ensure it does not come into contact with hot surfaces. Do not cover ventilation slots (risk of heat build-up and fire).
  • Cleaning: Be careful when cleaning individual parts. Remove the adapter from the socket when the device is not in use and before removing parts for cleaning.
  • Electrical Safety:
    • Never immerse the device, cable, or plug in water or other liquids.
    • Not suitable for outdoor use.
    • Only connect to a properly installed socket that matches the device's technical data.
    • Check for damage before each use. Do not use if visible damage is present.
    • Do not disassemble the device. Repairs must only be carried out by a specialist workshop or customer service.
    • Only use accessories included or recommended by the dealer.
    • Unplug the device when not in use, before a thunderstorm, and before cleaning. When unplugging, always pull the plug, not the cable.
    • Have a damaged connection cable repaired only by the manufacturer, customer service, or a specialist.
    • Never leave the device unattended during operation.
  • Fire Hazard: Do not squash or bend cables and avoid bringing them into contact with hot surfaces. Ensure ventilation openings remain free. Overheating could cause a fire.
  • Precautions:
    • The device is only suitable for use with melted couverture chocolate. It should not be filled with other foodstuffs.
    • Always remove leftover chocolate before it sets.
    • Always disconnect the device from the mains socket before attaching or detaching accessories.
    • Regularly check whether fruits or other objects have fallen into the bowl. They may block the device, preventing chocolate from flowing properly.
    • Never turn the device on if chocolate is present inside it. Remove all leftover chocolate first.
    • If the auger stops turning, turn the device off immediately and clean the auger. Check if the device is blocked.
    • Do not use chocolate that contains nuts, raisins, almonds, etc., as the auger could become blocked.
    • The device is not suitable for dishwashers.
