Overview

The Dune 4WD Nomad Deluxe Hardtop Rooftop Tent 140cm is a semi-automatic rooftop tent designed for outdoor enthusiasts, offering quick setup and fold-down capabilities. It is intended for use with vehicles and provides a comfortable sleeping experience.

Function Description:

The primary function of this device is to provide a portable and comfortable shelter that can be mounted on a vehicle's roof. Its semi-automatic design, assisted by patented gas struts, allows two persons to set up and fold down the tent in seconds. This makes it suitable for various outdoor conditions and travel scenarios. The tent is designed to enhance the outdoor living experience by offering a secure and elevated sleeping area.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Frame Material: The entire frame is constructed from aluminum alloy parts, complemented by strong 100% virgin nylon components.
  • Tent Material: Heavy-duty tent material with all seams taped for excellent waterproofing.
  • Mattress: Features a good quality 50mm foam mattress for comfortable sleep.
  • Ladder: Includes a telescopic aluminum alloy ladder that is removable and can support up to 150kg.
  • Opened Dimensions: 205cm (length) x 139cm (width) x 100cm (height).
  • Closed Dimensions: 221cm (length) x 155cm (width) x 25cm (height).
  • Net Weight: 75kg (excluding the ladder).
  • Gross Weight: 94kg.
  • Roof Bar Installation: Two detachable roof bars can be installed either horizontally or vertically on the shell as needed. These bars should be installed before mounting the tent on the car roof.
  • Mounting Hardware: Includes M8x15mm Hex Bolts, M8 Flat Washers, M8 Arc Washers, U-Shape Stators, Plastic Nuts, and T-Shape Bolts for secure installation on a roof rack.
  • Gas Strut Assist: Patented gas strut mechanism for automatic opening of the tent.
  • Locking Mechanisms: Features buckles around the tent for secure closure and spare locking sticks for additional support of the gas struts.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Setup: The semi-automatic design with gas strut assist enables quick and effortless setup by two people.
  • Installation Flexibility: Roof bars can be installed horizontally or vertically on the tent's hard shell, adapting to different vehicle roof rack configurations. The installation process involves inserting fixed parts into slots, adjusting bar height, and tightening with bolts and washers.
  • Vehicle Mounting: The tent is designed to be lifted onto a vehicle's roof rack and adjusted to the center, ensuring the rear door can be opened/closed. It is secured using T-shape bolts, U-shape stators, washers, and plastic nuts.
  • Ladder Use: The telescopic ladder is hung on the frame and its length adjusted to ensure stability, providing safe access to the tent.
  • Folding Down: To fold down, all windows are closed, elastic ropes inside the tent are hooked, the front door is zipped up two-thirds, shoes bags are tucked inside, and the shell is pressed down. The belt puller on the back side is used to collapse the tent. The ladder is then removed and shortened, and all buckles around the tent are locked, ensuring no fabric is exposed.
  • Emergency Support: Spare locking sticks are provided to fasten to the upper cover gas struts from windows. This is an emergency solution to prevent the top lid from collapsing if gas strut pressure is insufficient, especially when combined with an annex, and helps extend the service life of the gas strut poles.
  • Safety Guidelines:
    • Do not drive over 70mph (110km/h) with the tent.
    • Regularly check that the tent is firmly fixed to roof racks and all straps are securely fastened.
    • Do not use the tent if there is visible damage; contact the manufacturer for assistance.
    • Be aware that unsecured loads or incorrectly mounted roof bars can cause accidents.
    • Consider changes in vehicle height and driving behavior (side-wind sensitivity, cornering, braking).
    • Always consult vehicle and roof bar manuals.
    • Do not use bleach, alcohol, or ammonia-based cleaning liquids.
    • Note that vehicle height can increase by up to 90cm.
    • Beware of low entrances and hanging branches.
    • Wind noise may be generated during travel.
    • The tent must be removed before using an automatic car wash.
    • Always use the ladder with caution and do not allow children to use it alone. Ensure ladder hooks are in good condition.
    • Do not allow naked flames in or near the tent.

Maintenance Features:

  • Troubleshooting Cylinder Rods: If a cylinder rod is not working, check if it's covered by fabric or if there's air leaking from it. If air is leaking, the cylinder rods need to be replaced by loosening screws with a screwdriver and installing new ones.
  • Gas Strut Longevity: Using the spare locking sticks can extend the service life of the gas strut poles by providing additional support, especially when the gas strut pressure is insufficient.
  • Cleaning: Avoid using bleach, alcohol, or ammonia-based cleaning liquids on the tent's surface to prevent damage.
  • Storage: For fuel economy and safety, the roof tent and roof bars should be removed when not in use.
  • Warranty: The manufacturer's warranty covers manufacturing faults for one year under regular use. It is valid only if instructions and recommendations are adhered to and applies only to the first owner. Second-hand sales are not covered.
